We finally decided on both the first and middle name for our little baby girl! I was born in Scotland, and Sasha’s parents are both from Serbia, so we narrowed our searches down to baby names from both those cultures. We had about six names (three Scottish, three Serbian), then tested them out for awhile and decided upon ‘Isla’ – pronounced eye-la. It’s a Scottish name, so we chose Milijana (pronounced Milly-ana) for a middle name, which is Sasha’s only surviving grandma’s first name. Not an easy name – Isla Milijana Petrovic – but neither of our names were, and we liked it! I am a sucker for a good personalized print, so I ordered this one and this one from Minted (along with this sassy print). I could have ordered 1000 more prints. I love Minted so much.

  1. Really love name! In Filipino, Isla means ‘island’, but it’s pronounced as is-la. 🙂

  3. such a beautiful name, and i love the sentiment behind it – it will mean so much to your daughter when you explain the thought and care that went into naming her 🙂

  5. My mom is from Scotland so I chose a Scottish name (Cameron) for my son. I’m pregnant again and want another Scottish name! If it’s a girl I loved Isla. Can you share your other 2 Scottish names?
