On Sunday, May 10, I’ll celebrate my first official Mother’s Day as a mom (last year was an ‘almost there’ sort of holiday), and I’m really excited. I genuinely believe that having a baby makes you love your own mother even more, as you are able to comprehend for the first time how much they love you! I have already been wracking my brain as to what to buy my mom, and I wanted to share some ideas I have for her and also some suggestions for the men out there who need help buying their ladies gifts for Mother’s Day (hint, hint, Sasha!).
I love the idea of creating your own gift bag filled with little goodies following a certain theme, so I’m sharing spa, baking, health, coffee, and stationery-themed baskets. You can either fill a pretty wicker basket or add tissue paper to a gift box and tie a bow around it – I’ve included some good containers at the bottom of this post!
If you want to ‘go big’ and get your mom some nice pieces in the basket, I recommend pairing up with your siblings and getting her a combined gift. That’s what my two sisters and I traditionally do for Mother’s and Father’s Days.
Do you have any other good gifts to buy moms? Is there anything particular on your wish list?
Also, don’t forget to enter the $50 giveaway to The Monogram Shop! It ends tonight at midnight.
If your mom likes a little spa time, you can always buy her a gift certificate to Massage Envy or to a hotel spa (like the Houstonian’s Trellis Spa!). However, if you wanted to be more thoughtful, you can put together a few pampering items into a gift basket. I’d recommend this amazing Body Benefits Loofah (my favorite!) and the Fresh Sugar Face Polish for exfoliation, and the Clarisonic Pedi Sonic Foot Transformation and Essie nail polishes to keep her feet looking pretty. You can absolutely never go wrong with good smelling candles – I guarantee your mom would love a Diptyque candle.
If your mom loves to bake, then make her a culinary inspired gift basket, full of measuring spoons, a cake server, a cute apron, a Rifle Paper Co. recipe tin, and gorgeous white marble pastry board (totally lusting after this one!). This is also a great wedding shower gift basket idea! These items are useful for most ladies trying to stock up on kitchen supplies.
My mom has recently gotten into yoga, so I have been thinking about getting some accessories like a mat bag. I also love this pretty water bottle, inspirational yoga mat and these delicious Kind bars. I’m still considering a FitBit, as I need to get back into step counting! I also think that an iPod nano is a great gift for someone who wants to workout and listen to music, but not risk getting their iPhone all sweaty.
As a coffee lover (mainly decaf now), I am always appreciative of a Starbucks gift card, and know that my mom is the same way. If your mom prefers to brew her own coffee, get her this gorgeous Bodum French Press and gift her this delicious decadent chocolate coffee from World Market. Also include a monogram coffee cup and gold coffee spoons from Anthropologie, and your gift basket is complete!
Last, but not least, is the stationery loving mom. My mother taught us the importance of a good hand-written thank you note and sending letters in the mail, and this is something I value to this day. I know she would love this Rifle stationery set and these monogrammed note cards, as well as a set of Le Pens and a unique wooden pen holder. Include this gorgeous floral print from Lulu & Georgia, and your mom would be one lucky lady!

I love all of these. Need to casually leave this link open on my husbands phone 😉
