My little spark plug turned two today! Georgie has more personality in her pinky finger than I do in my whole body (and sheer stubbornness too!) – as evidenced by the photos we took this past week. She has learned so much over the past year, but waiting until the count of 3 and tossing confetti are definitely not in her skillset just yet. That and jumping – but watching her attempt is just too cute.
It’s hard to believe that two years have passed since she was placed in my arms at the hospital. There is so much growth in the first two years of life. It amazes me. Just this morning, she got on Emi’s scooter and was riding around the house, yelling, “MAMA, WATCH! DADA, WATCH! WATCH!” Her vocabulary has exploded, as has her agility – she didn’t walk until April! She is a social butterfly, but can also be shy in new situations (that hasn’t happened much since everything shut down in March!). She absolutely loves music and dancing (especially to Party in the USA or doing Ring-Around-the-Roses), loves playing with her “sissies,” making messes (ha, but seriously), and doing everything herself (“Georgie walk! Georgie do it! Georgie brush!”).
Over the weekend, we celebrated her birthday in a joint party with Emi. She has probably never smiled as big as she did getting to blow out her candles ten times over. She was just as happy watching Emi, Isla and Kevin take turns! Although two is a tough age for sharing, she is getting much better at it – especially if you ask kindly (grabbing is a disaster, as her sisters have finally learned!).
Things I want to remember about Georgie at age two include:
- She loves eating Alyssa’s vegan bites (the ultimate favorite), asks all day long for “strawberry cereal” (sometimes beginning at 3am!), cheese and corn crunchy tacos, blueberries, apples, yogurts, quinoa, jalepeno lentil chips, and most randomly – her favorite dinner is the Asian Tofu Salad from Local Foods!
- She prefers to run than walk – we’re always running! Well, she is… and right now, I’m struggling to catch up! The whole “Mommy is leaving, bye Georgie!” trick that worked so well with her sisters when I’m trying to leaves doesn’t work for this one. She just simply says, “Bye, bye, mommy!”
- She loves reading at night! She especially loves Time for a Hug, flap/peek-a-boo books, Goodnight Moon, A Fish Out of Water and Llama Llama books.
- Like I mentioned earlier, she is a big music lover. She is always asking Alexa to play music (but Alexa never understands!). Recently, she has become addicted to the Lion King soundtrack – but Frozen has been her long time favorite. She likes to sing Happy Birthday, the ABCs, the finger family song (“Mommy finger, mommy Finger, where are you?”) and Party in the USA (which she calls “Hands up!” song).
- She knows most colors and how to count to ten! She has learned so much at school (goes Tues/Thurs 9-2pm!) – we are incredibly grateful for her wonderful teachers, Miss Emily and Miss Soma!
- She carries around ten blankets – all variations of the same Bebe au Lait mermaid print – she calls them “Mer-Mer,” “Bubbles” and “Baby Bubbles” (one that got cut up for school). She recently fell in love with her own Lulla doll, just like her big sis!
I could eat her up with a spoon! I love her so much! Happy 2nd birthday, Georgie Girl!
