Happy Seventh Birthday, Isla Milijana!

Isla turned seven years old earlier this month, and we had so much fun celebrating her birthday here in Durango, Colorado. Before we left Houston, her classmates sang her “Happy Birthday!” at the end-of-year party and spoiled her with the sweetest gift. She was absolutely elated – I will cherish that photo of her beaming forever! For her birthday, she asked for a two-wheeled scooter, Polly Pockets, Barbies, Junie B. Jones books, an iPad, and “squishies,” amongst other things! It’s such a fun age – she still enjoys imaginative play but also can get lost in a good book (Junie brings lots of laughs!).

Isla will start second grade in Austin – a new school, which may be intimidating to many (ahem, me!), but Isla loves meeting new friends and is so excited about the move. She loves her friends deeply!

In her seventh year of life, Isla became a “big big big” sister – a role she takes very seriously. She absolutely adores doting on Poppy. She loves holding her, changing her diapers, rocking her, etc. It is like having a little built-in babysitter.

Isla started tennis lessons last fall and continued them through the spring and then did two weeks of tennis camp here in Durango. We’ve loved watching her skills develop, but she claims she is ready to move onto cheerleading (Sasha isn’t thrilled about this, but I don’t mind it one bit, ha!). We’ll see what she ends up wanting to do in the fall!
