Isla’s Two Week Anniversary

I know all parents say, “They grow up too fast!” But wait – they really do. Isla is two weeks old today, and I was looking at all of the pictures in the hospital of her, and she looks so much older already. Cue me panicking! I don’t want her to grow up!! I frantically began my newborn baby photo booking process – ‘we must capture every moment!’, I’m thinking to myself. I know that every phase will be “the cutest!”, but I really do want to remember these special early days. Below are some pictures I’ve taken in the last week to try to remember how teensy tiny she is!

Isla’s Birth Gift: Pearls

For the month leading up to Isla’s birth, Sasha asked me what I wanted for a ‘push present.’ I thought the idea of gifting your wife for delivering your child seemed kind of bizarre – it’s not like men have the option! I told him time and time again (semi-jokingly) that I wanted this elephant from Baby & Child. He refused.

After Isla was born (and the chaos died down), Sasha handed me a small jewelry box and explained that this gift was to commemorate this special moment (not a ‘thank you’). I opened the box and started crying – my first set of pearl earrings. Isla was born on June 4, and her birthstone is pearl. I love them so much and have literally worn them every day since she was born (13 to be exact).

Happy Father’s Day

Happiest Father’s Day! This year, I am celebrating for two special men in my life – my dad and my husband! Sasha has had a busy 10 days with the Isla’s birth, his birthday and now his first Father’s Day. Isla got him a few little gifts, but he won’t get to open them until we go to my parent’s house at noon for brunch. Sasha is basking in the joys of being a father – he especially loves having her sleep on his chest. I have about 10 pictures of this. When I try to have her fall asleep on my chest, she smells milk and immediately begins trying to eat my shirt (ha!). I am so grateful for my dad. He has always been my role model, and I love him so much. He is loving the new role as ‘Papa.’ My parents stopped by yesterday for just 15 minutes for some quick cuddle time with Isla. I hope you enjoy this special day!

Bucket List: Famous Landmarks

If you’ve been following Snapshots and My Thoughts for any length of time now, you’ll now that I love to travel. I have an extensive list of places I’m dying to go and visit – Sasha tells me that I “need to pump my breaks,” because I’m already planning an international trip for us three in December, and he thinks it’s a bad idea to take a 6 month old out of the country. We’ll see! I am not a list-checker when I travel, but there are some iconic landmarks I’m dying to see – see below. Have you been to any of these? If so, I will be asking for advice on what to do and see. Machu Picchu is probably at the top of that list! I’ve been very fortunate and have ticked-off quite a few of my ‘to-sees’ in the last few years (pictures below). Of all these places, Sydney, Istanbul and Paris were definitely my favorites.

As the adage goes, ‘not all who wander are lost…

Father’s Day Gift Guide

As a big daddy’s girl, I love Father’s Day so much. This year, it will be extra special for me, as this will be the first time that I celebrate my own daughter’s dad versus just my own. I started doing research for gifts the day before I went into labor, so have frantically been looking to finalize my purchase now that I’m home. With less than a week to go, I’ve ordered Sasha two little things to commemorate his first Father’s Day. I put together a list of some top contenders. What are you buying this year for your dad?

PS Happy 33rd birthday to Sasha! Less than one week after Isla’s!
