A Proud American

I became a United States citizen in December 2011. It was such a special day for me – one that I will never forget. On that day, I (officially) became a proud American, and I cheesily waved my little flag around during the ceremony as we sang the National Anthem. I’ll never give up my UK passport or citizenship, as that is my heritage, but I have embraced all things American (especially the accent, which I’ve had for years and years). My mom took a picture of me during the ceremony, which I thought I’d share (sidenote: this was before Instagram let you remove borders!). On this day, let us celebrate this beautiful country and remember all of the people who have died for our freedom, including a friend of mine, Dimitri Del Castillo. May he rest in peace.

The Perfect One-Piece

swimsuitonepiece2

I have forever loved one-piece swimsuits. Not just due to the fact that I am very modest, but because I find them very sexy (even though they cover up more skin). Two of my favorite swimsuits ever are old one-pieces from Juicy Couture and Anthropologie, and I’m on the hunt for another one this year (much to the dismay of my fiancé). I’ve been scouring the internet, and these six are my favorite. I think I’m leaning towards the first and second suits – Mara Hoffman (I want everything) and J. Crew (40% off all swimsuits right now!).

Wedding Hair Inspiration

weddinghairWhen I was in Napa a month ago, I did my hair and makeup trial. I loved my makeup, and at the time, really liked my chignon updo. However, after looking at photos and showing it to my friends and family, everyone has agreed that it’s not really me. So, I created a Pinterest account and started scouring the site for inspiration. The photos above are some of my favorites. How did you pick your hair style?

Explore, Dream, Discover

Some of my all-time favorite quotes were spoken by Mark Twain. I always feel so inspired by this wanderlust-filled saying – isn’t it so true? We will definitely be more disappointed by the things we choose not to do than those we decide to do. It makes me want to pack a bag and go and travel (probably not good timing though, since we get married in 18 days!). I hope you are having a wonderful Monday!
