Last week, our close friends, Matt and Erin, came over to our house to do a gender reveal. Erin had just picked up the cake from Sydney (who was so tight-lipped, even to me!), and Matt is a dentist at a practice very close to our house (Parker-Nickolas-Read). So he left work, came immediately to our house, and they anxiously cut the cake to discover a pink center! Another baby girl. Their daughter, Parker, is 1.5 – just a bit younger than Emilia, and she is going to be the sweetest big sister. We took some announcement photos yesterday, and I could eat Parker up in these! I’m so excited for baby Nickolas #2! Gimme all the girls!
Week(s) in Review
Happy Monday! I never posted photos from my in-between-Florida-trips week, and that now feels like an eternity ago. The past week was pure madness – the first week home from a trip always is, right? A million errands to catch up on, work to get done, then just getting back into routine feels difficult. We’ve had non-stop rain in Houston for weeks on end now. I took family photos on Sunday evening, and it poured down rain at the end of the session. We took our family photos with Courtney on Saturday. It was overcast, but fortunately we didn’t get rained on.
This past weekend, we celebrated my Dad’s birthday on Saturday and one of Isla’s best friends birthday as well. The flamingo party could not have been cuter – details below. We had a play date with Natalie Weakley and her gals, went to dance class after dance class (Isla is doing it on Tuesdays and Wednesdays now because she loves it so much!), and enjoyed time splashing in the puddles. On Sunday, Isla went on a 2 mile bike ride along side me as I ran. I was on cloud 9! I have a new exercise buddy. So happy.
Last week, I had my 20 week ultrasounds and follow-up appointment. It was so sweet seeing all of the detail scans of baby P! We love her so much already. Praying the next 19 weeks fly by.
Can y’all believe it’s OCTOBER already? Holy cow. Time to start ordering Halloween costumes! I hope it doesn’t rain like it did last year. Enjoy the rest of your week! xo
Baby Charlotte’s Newborn Session
I always love taking newborn photos, but they make me especially happy while I’m pregnant. I remember doing a session when I was 38 weeks pregnant with Emi! It probably wasn’t my best decision, as I felt like I was going to faint at one point, but I ended up loving the photos so totally worthwhile! Ha.
On Monday, I had the pleasure of photographing baby Charlotte and her parents, Laura and Chris. My dear friend, Brittany, the owner of Butter Artistry, did Laura’s hair and makeup and WOW, doesn’t she look incredible? Their house was also a dream – huge windows with lots of natural light. And then, there was beautiful Charlotte and her insanely long eyelashes! Why do baby girls get the good lashes?! She is just the cutest.
I am going to try to be better about sharing more sessions as we enter ‘family photo season.’ Perhaps then I won’t feel so bad about not having an updated Portfolio page on my site. Whoops. Coming soon? Hopefully!
Our Trip on the Disney Dream Cruise Ship
We are so grateful that the Disney Cruise Line invited us aboard the Disney Dream for the most magical experience! All text and opinions below are 100% mine. Thank you for reading and for supporting the brands we love!
Two weeks ago, Isla and I flew home from Orlando, Florida after having a dream trip (pun intended!) on our first Disney Cruise Line adventure. We took a friend’s trip with our besties, Destiny and Truman (whom I haven’t seen since he moved last year!). I can’t quite describe how much fun we had at Magic Kingdom and then on the cruise for four incredible days, but I will do my best to share details from our week onboard below. It was impossible to capture the joy and amazement in the kid’s eyes when they met their favorite characters face-to-face, as they ate they third ice cream cone of the day, as they snuggled (both) in the top bunk at night, free to watch Disney movies as they drifted to sleep. I loved every minute of my time with Destiny – she is the most sweet, genuine and thoughtful friend. I’m so grateful for her friendship. I talked her ear off every single night and would only stop when I could tell she was actually borderline asleep, ha! It would be hard to top this friends trip!
Below, you’ll find a recap of each day of our vacation. Also, I asked people to submit questions on Instagram this week, and I got some great ones, which I’ve answered below in the Q&A section! If you have any additional questions, please feel free to comment, and I will definitely get back to you. Finally, I’ve included some tips for those who are going on the Disney Dream in the future (or who want to plan a trip). We were only onboard for four days, and I feel like we learned so much in a short period of time.
In short: It was a trip I will never forget – and I’m fairly convinced that even at age 4, Isla won’t either (thank goodness her paparazzi mom documented everything to help with that, ha!). It was exhausting at times, because there is so much to do, and we wanted to do it all, but we headed to the room early most nights and rested for the next day. Play hard, crash hard! That was our motto.
Aubrie’s 7th Birthday Lilly Pulitzer-Inspired Shoot
Yesterday afternoon, I met Alexandra and her two gorgeous girls – Aubrie, who is turning 7 in three weeks time, and Elle, who is almost five months old! They are her bookmark babes – the oldest and youngest of five beautiful kiddos. Aubrie is a Lilly-loving little lady, so we had some fun taking photos in the Lilly Pulitzer store in Houston, as well as in my friend, Nancy Aidée González’s studio. These three ladies were the perfect models! Talk about good genes. I wanted to share some of my favorites from the session! I love birthday portrait sessions. It’s always a joy to capture someone’s personality at a certain age.
