Poppy’s Pastel Pop-star 1st Birthday Party

Just days after Poppy turned one year old, we celebrated this milestone birthday with some of our closest family and friends. We moved into our new house just two weeks beforehand, which made the days leading up to the party feel absolutely nuts, ha! But everything went smoothly (except the rainy, freezing weather!), and the girls all had the best time. I rented a soft play package which came with a ball pit and other little toddler play toys – it was such a hit. Poppy loved it and spent most of the time there. With this said, the cake was definitely the highlight of Poppy’s day. That girl crushed it – I was impressed!

We call Poppy ‘Popstar’ most of the time, so doing a star theme party just felt right! Then came the idea of star pop-its, which felt even more right, ha. Since we only invited a handful of people, I was able to hand deliver rainbow pastel star pop-its in custom star bubble mailers – so extra, but we had fun in the process! One of my best friends, Monica, designed the invitations. I love them so much! I knew that I didn’t want a black and gold star party – and I’m so ready for Easter by the time January and February roll around, that a pastel rainbow color scheme was our one and only choice. I have linked all of the party items below! It was not my most over-the-top party, but it was probably the most fun one. The first guests arrived at 11am and the last left at 8:30pm. That is my kind of party! We truly did ‘party like popstars!’ I’ve shared lots of photos below!

Happy Third Birthday, Georgie Margot!

Earlier this month, our Georgie girl turned three years old. She is growing into quite the little entertainer – she loves to make people laugh so much! She 100% refused to acknowledge it was my birthday this past weekend, and so we eventually just gave in and sang her happy birthday – candle and all. It’s pretty fitting with her love of attention! Georgie loves going to school (especially because of her boyfriend, Adam!), coloring, getting tickled, playing with play dough, eating Kashi Peanut Butter Crunch cereal, getting herself dressed, emulating her big sisters in every way possible, watching Bluey, randomly telling her family and friends that she loves them (this melts me!), and trying to steal a sip of Diet Coke whenever possible. She wakes up like a total bear, screams louder than anyone I’ve ever heard and is a daddy’s girl until the middle of the night when she wakes up (every day) around 2pm wailing for me to come into her bed. We absolutely love this little toot to pieces! I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for our Jo Jo Girl (also known as Dodie Bird!).

Three Cheers & High Fives Gymnastics Party

A few weeks ago, we celebrated Emilia and Georgie’s birthdays at the gym where they take gymnastics classes. The last themed birthday party we had for them was “Oui, oui, oui, Emi is three! Oh how fun, Georgie is one!” In fitting with the acrobatic theme, I chose “Three cheers and high fives!” for this celebration. We kept the party small – a 30 minute setup window helped enforce that! But with the help of my amazing friend, Kristin, the party looked pretty darn cute with lots of pink, blue, and red decorations and balloons (Kristin did the garland herself!). The girls had the BEST time (as did I – I barely took any photos at all during the actual party!).

A special thank you to one of my best friends, Monica of Paper Flour Ink, who designed the invitations, and to Ryan of Ryan’s Woodworking for building the custom podium! I bought the cakes and cookies from Hayleycakes and ordered the napkins and cups from For Your Party. Another one of my best friends, Julie of Young Wild & Friedman, sent party sized play dough jars! The girls had the best time, which is the most important part! Thanks to our family and friends who came to make it so special.

Happy Fifth Birthday, Emilia Wilkie!

Yesterday, we woke up with a five year old in the house! Our sweet Emilia had the very best day – weekend birthdays are always so fun. She opened up her gifts bright and early in our bed, then ate donuts and played with her sticker book until our family started arriving for her and Georgie’s birthday party. We celebrated the girls at their gym – a place that is already starting to feel like a second home!

Emi has grown up so much over the past year. We’ve had a nomadic year for one – moving out of our Houston house in May, spending a summer in Colorado and some time at my parent’s in Katy, then the last six months in our rental house in Austin. She started a new school, made new friends, took a ballet class (which we just dropped), and is still taking gymnastics once a week (she loves it!). Emilia is now a voracious cyclist – she loves going on her bike every evening before dinner and is fast! Thanks to the hilly terrain, she is also strong as she pedals uphill (probably more than I could do!). She adores spending time with her sisters, creative play with her figurine characters and baby dolls, swimming, going to the park and dancing to music. Emilia is a definitely the only introvert in the family (TBD on Poppy’s personality!) – she takes awhile to warm up to new people and things, but then latches to them once she is familiar. She is all around easy going, except when she gets hungry (true ‘hanger!’).

For Isla’s fifth birthday, I asked her twenty questions, so we did the same thing yesterday with Emi! Here is what she had to say:

Choosing the Best Diaper for Your Baby

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Parent’s Choice Diapers. The opinions and text are all mine. Thank you for supporting the brands my family loves!

A few days after we started using Parent’s Choice Dry and Gentle Baby Diapers, I commented to Sasha about how I was worried that Poppy was dehydrated because her diapers were much drier than usual. He said he had noticed the same, so naturally, my mom instinct kicked in, and I began to panic. The next day, it dawned on me that Poppy’s dry diapers had nothing to do with her milk consumption but instead the great absorption of the Parent’s Choice brand baby diapers. In fact, Sasha walked into the kitchen yesterday and declared, “These are the best diapers we have ever used.” After many years of having kids in diapers, this is truly a huge compliment coming from the person responsible for diaper ordering in our house!

Parent’s Choice diapers have a helpful diaper wetness indicator, as well as a JustRight™ Fit Guide that lets you know when it’s time to size up. When the tabs fasten comfortably in or over the blue zone, your baby is in the correct size. When the tabs fasten in the white zone, it’s time to move to the next size. The stretchy fit and pocketed waistband (included on diapers up to size 2) help protect against blowouts. They also offer leakage protection for up to 12 hours – plus they’re lotion, latex and fragrance free. The DRYNOW™ Core absorbs liquid quickly, locking away moisture and leaving Poppy so dry and comfortable. I have honestly noticed a big difference in how much drier she is when I change the first diaper of the day (normally the wettest one). These are truly a high-quality diaper at an affordable price. These Parent’s Choice Dry and Gentle Baby Diapers can be bought online or in-store exclusively at Walmart.
