Week in Review

It makes sense why babies grow up so fast, because truly, the weeks fly by at a warp speed! It feels like I write my ‘Week in Review’ post on a daily basis! Ha.

Last week, Sasha worked from home, and despite having to prepare ‘real meals’ (not fried eggs for Isla and a wrap for me!), we loved having him with us. My overall sanity is so much higher when he’s here. It’s already August, and all I can think about is our trip to Destin, Florida next month. We’re staying at the Hilton Sandestin, and I am so, so excited! I haven’t been to the beach since last January, when we were in Australia. I miss it!

Some of the highlights from the past week include:

  • Having a few favorite gals over for lunch with their kiddos! Always love catching up with old friends over good food.
  • Visiting Nancy Aidee Gonzales’ house to see her new studio space and for Isla to play with Emilio and Christian (who are both so cute!).
  • Taking Britt’s son’s 1 month photo. George is seriously to die for! What a dreamboat!
  • Photographing the sweetest baby girl, Annie, just 20 months after I took her older brother’s newborn photos! I love photographing siblings 🙂
  • Meeting Destiny in Katy for blog photos, then going to our friends, the Jarvises, afterwards, to play and swim!
  • Going to church at Bayou City Fellowship! I am so glad we’re back every week – it’s no joke getting everyone dressed, ready and out the door that early on a Sunday!! Ha.
  • Taking milk bath photos at Ivana and Bob’s house of both Emi and Milly – our future bffs!
  • Having Riley help with Isla and Emi – we love having her with us! I also finished some basket photos for her mom (Monica of Paper Flour Ink).
  • Starting to plan Meredith’s baby shower! I cannot wait.
  • Booking our stay at the Hilton Sandestin for next month!! It’s so needed. I cannot wait to be on the beach with a book in hand (ha… or with two kids on my hips!).

I hope you had a wonderful week! Happy, happy Monday! xo

Week in Review

Another week has flown by, and tomorrow is August 1st! With temperatures in the 100s, it feels like we are deep in the weeds of summer. I never know at what point of the day I need to shower – after the early morning dog walk, when I come back sweaty? Or after I work out in the morning, when I come back sweaty? Or after the evening walk, when I… you guessed it, come back sweaty? So basically, I just shower all day long! Which is exactly why I’m rocking a baseball cap all day, every day. Because who has time to do their hair three times? Plus, I went to our dermatologist last Friday to talk about my skin discoloration (called melasma) which is a result of pregnancy, and she recommended wearing a hat every day. She suggested a wide brimmed one, but alas, I’m no Kate Middleton, so I’m not sure I can pull that off! Ha. I wish.

Some highlights from the past week include:

  • Getting Isla’s first haircut by Eric Vaughn – she wasn’t the most cooperative that she’s ever been, but he did a wonderful job regardless! And she has been showing off her new shorter do to everyone she meets!
  • Having Destiny, Tatum, Ivana, Milly, Meredith and my friend Monica’s daughter, Riley, who is acting as my ‘Mother’s Helper’ over at various times on Tuesday! It was a crazy day, but the very best kind.
  • Having Megan and Isabel over on Thursday to take some Willow Crowns fall bow photos!
  • Attending a Serbian wedding reception for Sasha’s second cousin on Saturday!
  • Going to church at Bayou City Fellowship – it was Emi’s first time in the nursery, but she seemed to do really well. Thankfully! We love our church home.
  • Getting more snuggles with Brittany’s sweet baby boy, George!
  • Swimming at my parent’s house in Katy on Saturday.
  • Eating family dinner at Peli Peli Kitchen – our Sunday tradition! We love it.

I hope you have a wonderful first week of August. I can’t believe I’m saying those words!

Happy Half-Birthday, Emi!

Yesterday, Emilia celebrated her half-birthday – a holiday reserved for 6 month olds and people whose birthday is on Christmas (looking at you, Meredith!). We spent the morning swimming at my parent’s house in Katy. They’re in Scotland, so we had the place to ourselves! Sasha is a superhuman, so he rode his bike the 20-odd miles there in 90 degree heat (yikes!). Unfortunately, I forgot to grab his clothes he laid out, so the photos I wanted to take of him and the girls didn’t end up happening! Alas, Emi’s 6 month photos are just me, her and Isla (thanks, babe!).

Since I forgot to do a five month update, I’ve included photos and details on Emi’s life at this two markers. In summary: she’s the biggest blessing I could have imagined and everything I ever prayed for and more. I’ve told Sasha a million times: she’s the dangerous kind that makes you want ten more. If only I could deal with ten more pregnancies! Ha.

Week in Review

This past Friday, we celebrated Miss Emilia’s Christening in an intimate ceremony with just our family and closest friends. Sweet Emi was not her usual happy self, which made sense later when we found out she had an ear infection! Regardless, it was a really fun day and lifelong memories were made. We’re so grateful for her amazing Godparents, Kirby and Brett, who were here from Oklahoma City to celebrate. Our photographer, Nancy Aidee, sent some pics already and I’m in love! I cannot wait to share more when we get the rest.

The rest of the weekend was a blur, given that we were just constantly trying to make poor Emi feel better. And the days leading up to the ceremony were very busy too! I snuck in two playdates, some blog photos for Destiny, newborn photos for Brittany’s angel, George, lunch with Ivana and her best friend, Destiny, and Milly’s three month photos. We had Sunday dinner with all my siblings – Ivana, Bob, Karine, Jill and Kevin. My favorite crew. We’re so blessed. Now I must go and pick-up the entire house that my tornado toddler wreaked havoc on today! Hope your Monday was a good one. xo

Week in Review

It’s Monday evening, and the house is quiet (which feels strange). I’ve got a cup of HEB Texas Pecan decaf coffee in my hand and am ready to tackle my inbox, once and for all! [or at least a little bit, so if I email you tonight, please reply tomorrow for my sanity! Ha.]

These weeks are just flying by (do I sound like a broken record yet?), partly because I have a baby and time will do that to you when they’re super young. Also because we are keeping busy around here! Some of the highlights from the past week include:

  • Isla attending yoga camp at BIG Power Yoga. Okay, y’all. I still cannot handle the cuteness of her journal that has a polaroid of her every day, doing a different yoga pose. I’m not even a yogi, but she loved it and I did because of that!! I wish she could do it again this week!
  • Taking Destiny’s blog photos at CityCentre! I am obsessed with all of her Nordstrom sale finds!
  • Having a photo/play date with Megan – I brought Ivana and Milly along with us! So sweet having Isa, Milly and Emi all together, lounging with us while the big girls swam.
  • Taking Carrie’s daughter’s one month photos. Ohhh, she is the cutest!
  • Keeping up with our tradition of pizza night with Ivana and Bob, but instead of being on Friday, we swapped it to Saturday, so that we could do a Semple family dinner in Katy – one last hoorah before my cousins left for Scotland!
  • Having Sasha’s mom and stepdad over for lunch Sunday! Donna saved the day by running to get Emi some Desitin to help her diaper rash.
  • Trekking my cousins around the city on Thursday to show them some photographic highlights, like the Greetings from Houston sign and the Water Wall! We ate ice cream at Creamistry and ohhhmygosh. It is way, way too good.
  • Eating dinner with my parents on Sunday night at Peli Peli Kitchen – it has been our tradition, and I loveeee traditions.
  • Finally getting my bootie back at LifeTime almost every day. It feels GREAT to be back in a routine!
  • Planting flowers in our yard. This was very overdue, but we got fresh mulch and I was finally inspired! Thankful for my Moana helper (see below!).
  • Eating a cousins lunch (delicious Niko Nikos!) at Oliver and Angie’s (Sasha’s cousins) house.

Y’all, it’s amazing how hard that is for me to recall things I did in the past week! You should try making a list of the ten favorite things you did last week. This being said, I am always nervous I’m forgetting, “Lunch with so-and-so”! Ha. I am praying that my full brain returns one day.

In the meantime, I hope y’all have the best week ever!
