Happy Memorial Day! This past Saturday, we celebrated Isla’s third birthday party in Durango, and simply put, it was magical. The birthday girl had asked for a unicorn themed party, so that’s exactly what she got – unicorn everything. It was relatively (for me at least! Ha!) small scale, given that there were only ten people there (including Emilia!). Our best friends, the Behennas (now Emi’s Godparents) were in town, which is why we chose to celebrate a week before her actual birthday on June 4.
Cake & Confetti’s 2nd Birthday Party
A few months ago, Meredith invited a handful of her friends over to celebrate Cake & Confetti’s second birthday with a garden dinner party that she was hosting at in her back yard. Y’all, it was the most perfect party I have ever attended – hands down. Not only did Meredith decorate everything to the nines, she did the florals herself and made a delicious four course meal (all healthy and vegetarian, so basically a dream come true). Plus, she hand-dyed that backdrop, which may be my favorite detail!
The party was featured on Best Friends for Frosting yesterday here (also posted on their Instagram here). Check out the post and read Meredith’s description of the party. I’m so proud of her, and I cannot wait to see the exciting things that Cake & Confetti has in store in the future.
cuteheads’ 3rd Birthday Party
Last week, a few other Houston mamas and I celebrated cuteheads‘ 3rd birthday alongside our sweet friend, Esther (remember her #GIRLBOSS feature here?). Meredith made the cutest balloon arch, we had gorgeous furniture from The Foundry, precious monogrammed garment bags from The Monogram Shop, food from Green Plate Foods and florals from Something Borrowed . It was quite the party. Of course, last but not least were all of the custom dresses that Esther designed for each girl. I cannot handle how cute they all were!
It was definitely my biggest photography challenge to date, as shooting on manual with five kids under the age of four running around like crazy was not what I’m used to (how peaceful newborn babies seem now!). I had a lot of fun chasing the girls around for the shots though, and I hope I’ll be able to celebrate many more cuteheads birthdays to come!
Read Esther’s post about the shoot on her blog – the cuteness – here.

Cake & Confetti Turns Two
Last night, I attended the world’s most perfect dinner party. Like flawless flowers, lust-worthy flatware, delicious food, tasty cocktails. Meredith, the owner of Cake & Confetti, knows how to throw a party. It is her job after all, and she knows what she’s doing. A group of her friends and fellow creatives got together at her house to celebrate two years of her being in business (did you read her #GIRLBOSS interview here?).
I had the honor of photographing the dinner, and of course, I immediately edited them upon getting home at 10:30pm (yup, I’m crazy too). I’m bursting at the seams to show the photos, but I can’t for now. I am able to share some of the photos we took a month ago to use as a follow-up to the big dinner party. Meredith’s creativity is endless. I love the 2 sparkler in the macaroons (although she did get slightly burned by the sparks!).
10 Items You Need from The Monogram Shop (Giveaway!)
The first time I ever stepped foot into The Monogram Shop, I knew I had found my match. Everywhere I looked, I saw gorgeous jewelry, monogrammed purses, colorful napkins, witty cards, and adorable baby gifts. I wanted it all.
If I ever need a gift for a baby, friend (male or female) or something special for myself, I head to The Monogram Shop, as I know I’ll be able to find something good. I tend not to leave myself enough time to get something personalized, which is an issue, as I always fall in love with something that needs to be monogrammed. My goal for this year is to be more proactive in buying presents more than just a couple days in advance.
Last week, I went to the store to meet with Leah to discuss some fun party items for Isla’s birthday. I cannot wait to see how they turn out! I also browsed the store, looking at their latest and greatest. If you’ve never been to The Monogram Shop and live in Houston, you’re seriously missing out. I’ve put together a list of ten things that you need from The Monogram Shop, which includes their jewelry, colorful cups, travel accessories and many other pretties.
The best part of all is that The Monogram Shop is offering one lucky Snapshots & My Thoughts reader a $50 gift card to their store. You don’t have to live in Houston to use it either, as you can order from their website or over the phone. The giveaway ends at 11:59pm on Friday, April 17th. Good luck!
Have you visited The Monogram Shop before? If so, what did you think? If you live outside of Houston, is there a similar store in your area? I’d love to hear about it.
