It’s time to redo the entire house. Okay, so there’s no way Sasha would buy that, given that we freshly painted every room 12 months ago, but the Rifle Paper Co. wall paper collection for Hygge & West just launched, and I’m utterly obsessed. I truly thought about how each print would fit in one room or another in The Manor – I love the safari print for Isla’s room? Maybe an accent wall? And we could totally redo one of the bathrooms with the pineapples! How fun is that print? And I need the peonies in our laundry room. What do you think of the collection?
Pink Peonies
It’s my favorite time of year – pink peony season. I could not be more obsessed with these flowers – definitely my favorite by far (well, you can never go wrong with tulips and hydrangeas!). I love seeing them begin to pop up at Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Central Market and other local flower shops. There is something about how full they are and their gorgeous variations of colors that just inspires me. I love them so much and would quite like a constant supply in my kitchen and living room! What is your favorite type of flower?

Favorite Etsy Shops
I love Etsy – not for all of the fru-fru bow or homemade DIY stores, but the amazing selection of custom stationery, stamps, prints, and decor. I recently browsed my order history (which is rather large) and realized how many gems I’ve found on this website. I decided to roundup my favorite stores so that you can hopefully feast your eyes (and wallets) on some of these gorgeous treats. Are you a frequent Etsy shopper? If so, which are your favorite shops?
Nursery Gallery Wall
I absolutely love gallery walls – we now have them in three rooms of the house. I had been pining a few prints here and there for Isla’s room and recently pulled the trigger on all of them. I wanted to add some color to the very monochromatic room (lots of gold, cream beige, white), but didn’t want anything too bold. After buying the prints, I spent a few weeks scouring frames, then spent last Sunday cutting out kraft paper versions of the frames and arranging and rearranging them on the wall. The whole process takes quite awhile, but it’s totally worth it. I have some space on the left and right to expand the collection if desired!
Do you have a gallery wall in your house?

Katie Del Castillo’s Gorgeous DC Home
Almost three years ago, I got a phone call that everyone dreads from one of my best friends, Kirby. She told me that one of our close high school friends, Dimitri, had been killed in Afghanistan. I was working on a project in Oklahoma City at the time, and I went into an empty meeting room and cried – not for my loss, as I hadn’t seen him in almost two years, but for his family, close friends, and his beautiful new wife – Katie. I had never met her, but had heard wonderful things from one of my friends who had. Dimitri was always the life of the party – he was funny, charismatic, athletic, and smart. We were in the same group of friends, and somehow all the girls were convinced to go to the Del Castillo’s house on the weekends to watch the guys play video games (wild high school years, right?). I have so many good memories of those days!
Anyways, I was so excited to see Katie Del Castillo’s gorgeous Washington, DC apartment featured on The Everygirl. Her taste is impeccable. I seriously adore every single element of her apartment – the ikat couch (reupholstered!), the decorated bar tray, the collage wall, the pink winged chairs? Love it all. Read the article for links to all of these amazing accessories and furniture pieces. Also, read her blog – Life with a Dash of Whimsy – for more indulgence!
PS I’d totally pick lunch with Kate Middleton too. I want to meet her so badly.
