I’m decorating one room at a time (in an attempt to stay sane!). I finally purchased the entryway and dining room furniture this weekend – which was exhausting as I ran between Crate and Barrel, Restoration Hardware, Anthropologie, West Elm, Z Gallerie, The Container Store, and IKEA (a nightmare). I decided to focus on the half and guest bathrooms (which look like this) first, so I purchased the following items (as inspired by Emily Schuman and Samantha Hutchinson). I still need to buy a cute little basket, but have lots of good coffee table books to use!1) Glass Melon Knobs from Anthopologie, 2) Voluspa Japonica Mini Candle from Anthropologie, 3) Barr-Co Soap Bar from Anthropologie, 4) Provence Perfume Bottles from Anthropologie, 5) Square Lacquer Tray from West Elm
Rustic Chic Dining
Sasha and I don’t want to buy too many big furniture items before The Manor is ready, because we have plenty of time to decorate and want everything to piece together perfectly. We’ve bought the Maxwell couches and know which entryway and coffee tables we’ll buy (see here), so the last big purchase we’ll get for the open living/dining room space is the table and chairs. We wanted to veer away from a formal table and were leaning towards a more rustic chic style. After doing lots of browsing, we found the winner: the Emmerson Dining Table and Bench from West Elm. For the side opposite from the bench and for the head seats, we’ll have the Hudson Camelback Upholstered Side Chair from Restoration Hardware (my obsession). Cannot wait to see it all in place so that we can start buying the little decorative pieces! What does your ideal dining area look like?
Just a Lick of Paint
I walked into The Manor yesterday with McKenzie, and I was tickled pink. It was the first time that I’d see the new paint on the walls, and although they have 1-2 coats left, I am so excited about the progress. The wood floors, faucets, dishwasher, wine cooler, and ice machine go in this week, and I cannot wait to see what it looks like after that. Getting much closer to the finish line… More before and afters of the kitchen, study, master bath, living room and entryway below! Previous progress posts filed under the Decor category above.
Designed after seeing this picture. The front door needs at least two more paint coats – but that’s our new front entryway! You can see where the Maxwell couches will go!
A Work in Progress: The Manor
There has been a lot of action taking place at The Manor recently. The front wall was taken down; the exterior, painted; the bathrooms, retiled with new cabinets; the living room, new lights and fireplace. A new bar was built, new granite and tile put into the kitchen, a new closet built for the master, and new shelves in the laundry room. There’s a lot of work left though, like the wood floors being installed, the TV being mounted above the fireplace, kitchen cabinets painted (along with the entire interior), mirrors and blinds installed, and the ice machine and wine cooler plugged into the bar. Then there’s decorating! We’ve got the couches and an idea for the entryway, but there’s a lot of design decisions to be made. Progress pictures here and original demolition pictures here. Stay tuned for more to come!
Our First Couches // Restoration Loving
I’ve got to admit it: I’m slightly obsessed with Restoration Hardware. They built one within the past two years at the nearby Highland Village in Houston (see picture below), and it’s absolutely gorgeous. I could buy everything in the entire store, and on Tuesday, I made my first step towards that by buying two Maxwell couches for The Manor. We got the three-over-three 9-ft couch and the regular 6-ft couch (both the 46-in luxe depth) in the Italian Brompton Cocoa. They won’t be delivered until March, which is good timing for when the wood floors will be in and the walls painted. I’m so excited!
