Budget-Friendly Fall Trends

It finally feels like fall in Texas (hallelujah!) – I celebrated by buying these Paige Premium Skyline Skinny jeans (I am in love) at Nordstrom. I always regret saying this come January, but I am so ready for cooler temperatures!

Some of the fall trends can get a little pricey (hello, $1000+ leather pants), but I’ve rounded up budget-friendly ($200 or less) options of all the major fall trends, including capes (love this Tory Burch one!), overalls, leather pants, maxi dresses, and dark skinny jeans.

Happy shopping, and have a wonderful weekend!

PS Did you read Emily Schuman’s Crowdsourcing Guidance from Moms? It made me cry. So good. Oh, and make sure you’ve entered the Dr. Brown’s giveaway! It ends tonight at midnight.

I adore each and every one of the pieces above. I would absolutely love to have them all.

Favorite Looks of the Week

This week’s Favorite Looks of the Week roundup is an eclectic mix of dresses, scarves and fall jackets. I am loving the two pregnant ladies’ styles this week – Emily of Ivory Lane and Samantha of Could I Have that? I also really love the classic style of Jessica of What I Wore – what a well tailored blazer!

Best Braid Tutorials

My best friend, McKenzie, is a the best braider in the world. I, on the other hand, have spent the last 26 years of my life being completely inept when it comes to hair styling, After Isla was born, I decided that I really, really need to learn how to braid my own hair. After practicing every single day in Durango this summer, I can finally French braid my hair (a huge victory!). With Isla’s new desire to grab everything and hold on tightly, having my hair braided is almost a necessity. I’ve been watching and reading lots of braid tutorials to try to expand my skills, and after looking at a thousand different blogs, I’ve rounded up my favorite 9 tutorials for different hairstyles. Below you’ll see my attempt at Amber Fillerup Clark’s Upside Down Braided Bun.

Are you a good braider? Have you seen any other tutorials that you would like to share?

Favorite Looks of the Week

You can definitely spot the New York City and San Francisco bloggers in this week’s ‘Favorite Looks of the Week,’ in that they are dressed for fall while others are still enjoying the last days of summer weather. It is still pretty toasty in Texas, so I spent most of my week in shorts. I know I’ll regret saying this as soon as it starts to get chilly, but I’m ready for cooler temperatures. I love our nightly family walks when I get to put on a jacket and scarf.

I struggle to pick a favorite look from my top ten, but if push came to shove, I’d go with Wendy’s bow top. I am in love with it! Which of these looks is your favorite?

Have a great Friday and weekend. Don’t forget to enter the Freshly Picked moccasin giveaway. It ends at midnight tonight!
