Week(s) In Review

It’s only mid-May, but I can easily say that 2019 has been one of my favorite years ever. I just looked back at all of the other photo posts this year, and these pictures bring back the best memories. I think a large part of that is related to being done with the house designing, building and decorating process. The only thing I have left to do is get our curtains installed, which we’ll do when we get back from Colorado. It’s such a big relief to have closed that long chapter in our lives. After all, we bought the lot to tear down in the summer of 2016!

The past month – it’s been that long since a review post! – has been filled with Easter celebrations, lots of baby snuggles (from all family members), Milly’s birthday party, a trip to OKC to celebrate Kirby’s 30th birthday, end of school year parties and graduation, tons of swimming in our pool, Donuts with Dad, dance recitals, doing BBG workouts with Monica, finding Belle a new family with Meredith, Trent and Piper, and celebrating the engagement of one of my best best friends. In review: lots to be happy about.

I’ll let the photos do the talking. Here are a few (or 300…) of my favorite photos from the past month. Believe it or not, I did some serious cutting down of the pictures in this gallery! Ha. They are in chronological order and Georgie looks so much bigger today than she did in the first photos. Time. Is. Flying!

Georgie at Three Months

Alternative title: “Georgie at one, two and three months because she is my third child and no timely updates should ever be expected ever again.”

Besides being very late in doing a monthly blog post – not that I think any reader was sitting at the edge of their seat waiting for it, more for my own guilt! – I feel like Miss Georgie Girl has fit into our life like a perfect puzzle piece and we’re now in our groove of life with three.

Being a family of five is my favorite thing ever. Georgie is one smiley, talkative, giggly little love, and we’re so blessed by her. The first three months don’t even necessarily have milestones, per se, other than “spit up on my shoulder 1,310 times this month” or “went through a record breaking 15 diapers in one day!” But this past month, she started to laugh, was consistently smiley – especially when I get her in the morning – and has started to enjoy tummy time. We’re following the Moms on Call schedule as much as we can with her older sisters’ schedule, and she’s doing well. She typically eats early 3 hours, starting around 5-6am with a final feed around 8pm. We’re working to stretch that out just a bittttt further, but I am not anxious to get rid of that early morning feed just yet. I love getting to start my day with a sweet snuggle. She had a lonnnnng period of “witching hours” from 8-11pm, and I’m so glad that is over (lasted almost 6 weeks!). She eats so quickly – much faster than her big sisters (normally 5-10 minutes max vs. Isla’s 45 minutes!). She absolutely loves when she sing to her, but is consistently put to sleep while listening to Hillsong during the day. Her Achilles Heel is definitely the car seat. She is not a huge fan, but if I can get her to take the pacifier, we’re normally good to go.

I weighed her at Ivana’s house on Friday, and she was just under 12 pounds (7 ounces less than her little body-building cousin, Stefan!). Her head is average sized, which means she is definitely not Sasha’s child, ha! We absolutely adore her to pieces.

She’s going to go from never being on an airplane to taking four flights within 72 hours next week, as we’re flying to Oklahoma City for 30 hour trip then back to Houston, then to Durango. So prayers for uneventful travel much appreciated!

Week(s) in Review

It has been a hot minute since my last ‘Week in Review!’ Over a month, actually. I’ve actually stayed on top of photo editing but I’ve been struggling with the new blog interface (I used WordPress) and getting the photo sizes to be consistent without a ton of manual tweaking. I *think* I finally got it down, so hopefully I’ll be posting more regularly again soon. So, in the last month, Georgie has grown like a weed – all smiles now and pretty much want to eat her up regularly. I have a new nephew – Stefan Paul Hetz – who is tiny and the most handsome little man. The girls had a Rodeo Day at their school, we’ve been on a few park dates, hosted a ton of family dinners and friend play dates, eaten a ton of popsicles in the backyard, frolicked in the bluebonnets, enjoyed some spring-time weather, and lots of days indoors too. Life has been a bit crazy with Sasha gone (6 work trips in 8 weeks, yikes), but we’re adjusting to the crazy, laughing all the way and that’s all that matters. And now, for 200+ photos (not kidding!) from the past five weeks…

Our Favorite Newborn Diapers

When we left the hospital with Georgie, we grabbed a handful of the Pampers Swaddlers diapers that were given to us during our stay. I had other diapers ready for us when we got home, but Sasha mentioned how much he loved the softness of the quilted liner and how snug the stretchy waistline felt in comparison to the ones we had used before. The material of the Pampers diapers truly felt like a blanket against her sweet newborn skin. When I got home, we ordered more Pampers Swaddlers – the Heart Quilts liner is two times softer than the every-day-of-the-year brand, and in having two different brands side-by-side to compare, I couldn’t agree more. Plus, the wetness indicator is helpful in knowing when it’s time to change Georgie’s diaper – although at this point, it still feels like that’s every 30 minutes of the day, ha!

I don’t mind changing her diaper all day, every day when it means I get to kiss her sweet belly and watch her smile back at me. I love every single day with our Georgie Girl.

Thank you to Pampers for sponsoring this post, and thank you to my readers for supporting the brands we really do love. As always, the opinions shared on Snapshots & My Thoughts are 100% honest.

Georgie’s Newborn Photos by Courtney Leigh Photography

Last Sunday afternoon, my incredibly sweet and talented friend, Courtney, came over to photograph our newly expanded family. These are my favorite photos ever. Courtney perfectly captured all of the love Sasha and I feel towards our girls, and the doting obsession Isla and Emilia have towards their baby sister, Georgie. The sunshine was streaking in through the windows, and it was just a really happy, stress-free photo session. Courtney photographed us in our element, and I love that her work does that. I have never been more filled with joy in my whole life, and I am so grateful to have a friend there documenting these early days of Georgie’s life. She sent us over 150 images, and I had the hardest time narrowing it down to the 96 you see below. It’s totally photo overload, but I just loved them all so much. Without further ado, here are the first photos of the Petrovic family of five.
