Exciting News: Baby Girl #4!

We are thrilled to share the news that our family is growing, as we are expecting another baby girl early next year! I am more than halfway through my last pregnancy (21 weeks now), and we were excited to see her sweet little face, arms, legs, etc. this past week at her anatomy ultrasound.

We found out that we were expecting back in June and then learned that we were having a fourth girl in August! Her big sisters are absolutely elated and cannot stop asking about when their new baby will arrive. February is going to be a busy month for our family – we’ve got a ton of back-to-back birthdays, and baby girl should arrive soon after mine!

This summer, we announced our move to Austin, which was potentially going to be this December, but with this pregnancy (and Google’s continued work-from-home policy), we won’t be moving until next June or July. I am so happy to stay close to our family and friends for a bit longer, and also to stay with my ob-gyn, Dr. Tejml, whom I love!

We have decided on a name, which I’ll share soon. I have already monogramed a few things and love how it fits in with her sisters’ names! This pregnancy has been very similar to the others (which is why I wasn’t very surprised to find out we were having a girl!). I was exhausted and very nauseous during the first trimester, but fortunately rebounded around week 12. I am feeling good now (mainly just tired), and grateful for the energy to exercise like normal again.

I want to say a huge thank you to Courtney @courtney_leigh_photo for our pregnancy announcement photos, to Sydney @sydneyarmesphotography for our gender reveal photos, to Brittany @butterartistry for glamming me up for our family photos, to Monica @paperflourink for our fabulous cake, and to Julie @youngwildandfriedman for tossing a pregnancy test into my yard and forcing me to take it right then and there (ha!). These are five of my favorite humans on this planet, and I’m grateful for their friendships and abundant talents!

I had my ob-gyn practice leave a voicemail with the gender results, which I forwarded to Monica, who immediately iced the cake with the pink icing. Sydney came over to capture the reveal, and it was such a fun (and yummy!) afternoon.

I took the photo below just minutes after getting that test result! Sasha was in a meeting upstairs, and I was dying to tell him! Julie already knew, since she stuck around until the result came in then had me come outside to socially-distance celebrate with her!

Enjoying Fall at Home with Walmart+

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Walmart. The opinions and text are all mine. Thank you for supporting the brands my family loves!

Walmart recently introduced Walmart+, a different kind of membership with many amazing benefits, including free unlimited delivery ($35 minimum, restrictions apply), member prices on fuel, and mobile scan & go in stores. As a busy, working mom of three young girls, I appreciate any time savings I can get, and using Walmart+ can save you up to 2.5 hours per week (savings based on 3 store trips per week and excludes time spent on shopping online) and $68 per month (savings based on 2 deliveries per week vs. non-member $7.95 fee) with their free unlimited delivery ($35 minimum, restrictions apply).

In the recent months, I have enjoyed spending less time in stores, and my appreciation for deliveries has increased significantly. We signed up for Walmart+ and have already started to enjoy the benefits of this different kind of membership, which costs $12.95 per month or $98/year. You can find the same everyday low prices you love from Walmart on groceries, clothing, seasonal decor and even last minute gifts (if you’re like me, this is critical!). In addition to this great benefit, Walmart+ members save 5 cents per gallon at Walmart and Murphy fuel stations with member prices on fuel. Another key benefit is that you can check out with your phone using mobile scan & go to make in-store shopping fast, easy and contact-free. Just scan, pay and be on your way. This feature is so unique!

With the recent drop in temperature in Houston, our neighborhood seems to be bustling again with families going on walks together in the evenings and kids playing in their front yards. It makes my heart so happy to see everyone enjoying the beautiful weather and hear children’s squeals of laughter as they play. In year’s past, I would be busy planning a fall trip – something we’ve done every year – but this year, we’re enjoying this season at home, spending more time in our front and back yards.

Emi and Georgie absolutely adore playing with our neighbors’ wooden house, and Sasha and I finally caved and surprised them with one of their own to play with. We bought a sensory bin table from Walmart earlier this summer, and the girls have loved using that too! Since we knew in the early days of moving into our current house that we would be relocating to Austin, we hadn’t invested in lawn furniture, but I’m glad the girls now have things to play with outside.

Walmart has an amazing selection of fun activities for kids to play with at home (inside and out!), and I’m sharing some of my favorite finds below. With a Walmart+ membership, you can get these items delivered to your house as part of their free unlimited delivery once you meet the $35 minimum (restrictions apply).

You can also shop these fun items by clicking on the products below!

Back to School 2020

Yesterday, Georgie started Mother’s Day Out (MDO), marking the last of our fall ‘first day of school’ milestones, as Emilia began earlier in the week and Isla, a few weeks ago. Georgie only lasted at MDO for a week and a half last year, before I pulled her out because she wouldn’t take a bottle and it was causing me more stress than it was worth. But we felt she was more than ready this year, despite quite a few tears at drop-off! Emi is going for five hours, three days a week (and loves it so much!), and Georgie has a two day overlap. Isla’s school days seem to last forever and ever – I am still used to her 2:30 pickup last year (it’s an hour later after kindergarten). I felt guilty having a bit of freedom yesterday, but used it wisely, knowing that as of September 18th, I am slam-jammed busy with newborn and family photos every weekend until December 6.

Isla had a big day yesterday as well, as she got to buy her lunch at school for the first time. I didn’t realize how excited this would make her, but two of her sweet teachers sent me photos of her BEAMING with joy as she ate her crunchy beef taco! She hopped in the car after school and the first thing she told me was, “I had the most delicious lunch ever!” I was so proud of her!

I am praying that drop-offs for Georgie get easier soon, although I remember lots of tears with Isla and Emi too, so understand this is part of the process by now. Her sweet teacher said she had a great day – gripping onto her lovie blankets that she calls “Bubbles.” She napped for a whole 20 minutes (versus her typical 2-2.5 hours at home), so hopefully that improves soon too! Here are a few photos of the girls to commemorate going back to school after a very strange six months of quarantining and social distancing.

A big thanks to Monica (@paperflourink) for the pendants for Georgie and Emi! I bought Isla’s from The Beaufort Bonnet Co.

Emilia Hermis’ First Year Portraits

One of my dearest friends (and talented interior designer!), Megan Hermis, gave birth to the sweetest little girl last July, and I’ve had the privilege of photography baby Emilia while Megan was pregnant (looking flawless in 100+ degree weather!), her early newborn days, when she was just few weeks old, and then again to celebrate her turning one! It is so fun to have such a good friend who also has three little girls very similar in age to ours! They have the most amazing genes in the Hermis family – everyone is so beautiful, and I have loved photographing them during these precious life milestones. Getting to capture baby’s first years is truly a gift, and one of my favorite things to do as a photographer! Below are some of my favorites from their sessions!

Julie’s Golden Hour Beach Maternity Session

A few weeks ago, one of my best friends, Julie (the boss babe behind Young Wild & Friedman), and I were texting about her maternity session. She asked where we should do them, and I made a suggestion, to which she replied, “GALVESTON!?!” I had to send her photos from my sister’s engagement session to convince her that it was a good idea, as this local beach isn’t known for being exceptionally beautiful (but it photographs well!). I am so glad we decided to go ahead and make the drive to the ocean, because it was one of the most fun evenings I’ve had in ages. We laughed so hard as we drove, scarfed down Mexican food, but most especially while taking photos. But when it came time to give me a serious soft smile, gosh, she nailed it. I was freaking out as the photos uploaded one-by-one to my computer on Sunday evening – Julie is just so stunning and pregnancy looks really, really good on her. My dear (and super talented) friend, Brittany of Butter Artistry, glammed Julie up for the shoot. She did such a good job making Julie feel her best! Professional hair and makeup makes such a big difference when you’re having your photos taken.

Julie borrowed my Pink Blush maternity dress and also my Gigi Pip hat – both looked gorgeous on her! Without further ado, here is my gorgeous best friend, 34 weeks pregnant with her bookend baby girl! I cannot wait to meet the sweetest, littlest Friedman so soon.
