Georgie at 7 Months

My last ‘Georgie monthly update’ was at three months, and a lot has happened since May 5! Thankfully, I’ve taken notes each month of milestones as she’s hit them (i.e. inconsistent sleep, eating but not ingesting, sitting but also toppling over – ha!). My Granny Jill wrote me a letter a few weeks ago reminding me the importance of tracking the events of each child, so I was motivated to share what she’s been up to for the past four months.

Four, Five, Six and Seven Months

Four Months: Georgie’s big ‘firsts’ included traveling on an airplane, rolling front-to-back + back-to-front (considered putting ankle weights on to prevent this – ha!), sleeping 12 consecutive hours (but not consistently!), three outfit changes in one day (blowout queen!) + going for a ‘swim’ in a pool. Her smiles were out in full force this month, and she started laughing very frequently!

Baby Must Haves with Walmart’s NextDay Delivery

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Walmart. The opinions and text are all mine. Thank you for supporting the brands my family loves!

The last six months of our lives would best be described as baby season. We’ve had handfuls of our closest friends give births, and we’ve been invited to a lot of baby showers and sprinkles. I always love these get togethers – more than any other kind – because although I don’t adore being pregnant myself, I love pregnant people! Ha. The best double standard. And I love watching expecting moms open gifts – sometimes puzzled at what this gadget does or what that bottle would be used for. I have my ‘go to’ baby registry guide and enjoy helping first-time mom friends navigate through the long list of baby items. However, my preparedness for the showers has gotten a little iffy recently following Georgie’s arrival, and the thought of traipsing all three girls to a store to get a gift sounds rather unpleasant. Enter Walmart’s new NextDay Delivery offering – order online, receive the very next-day, shipped in just one box. There are over 100,000 necessities and nice-to-have items that are eligible for this new service, and almost all of my favorite baby gifts are on that list. I did a roundup of some of the most frequently purchased bottles, pacifiers, bath items that you can order online at Walmart.com and have delivered the next day. The two very best part of NextDay Delivery is that it’s not only fast, but it’s FREE – there is no paid membership required – and so easy to use, even on your phone. You just enter ‘NextDay Delivery’ mode on the Walmart site, and from there, you can search all of the eligible products.

Our 2019 Summer Durango Trip

For the last six weeks, we escaped reality of sorts and spent time in our favorite home-away-from-home: Durango, Colorado. My parents bought a house there in 2012 – we visited twice in 2013, then spent six weeks there in 2014 when Isla was a newborn. Since then, we’ve tried to spend at least three to four weeks there every year. This past trip, with all three girls in tow, was especially fun, as Isla and Emi are now at fun ages to explore and play together in the most kid-friendly city.

Some highlights from our time in Colorado include:

  • Watching Sasha, Isla and my dad race in the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic – all on varying courses, naturally. Isla was such a champ – we were so proud of her!
  • Spending days playing cards, feeding fish, going on walks and hikes, riding bikes, going to the park, getting ice cream, drinking lemonade on the front porch, swimming at the rec center, playing tennis, getting chai tea lattes and vegan/GF baked goods at Smiley Cafe, celebrating Sasha and Isla’s birthdays and Father’s Day, and doing scavenger hunts with the girls.
  • Hosting our best friends, the Thompsons, for a few days – it was so much fun having the kids all play together! We did not want them to leave!
  • Spending quality time with my parents for the first two weeks of the trip and lots of good Petrovic family time.
  • Potty training Emilia… or rather, having her potty trained. The three days of doing it weren’t my favorite!
  • Riding the D&SNG train through Cascade Canyon – we had the best time! It was such a memorable part of the vacation.

We cannot wait to go again – hopefully we’ll be back in the fall. I am so grateful that Sasha was able to use his paternity leave this summer. Six weeks with my favorite people on earth – it was truly the best. Here are a few (ha) of my favorite photos from our time in Durango!

My Mom-Mobile Setup with Chicco

I recently posted a photo on Instagram of all three girls on the way to school dropoff, and I received a lot of questions about which model of car I was driving, our car seat setup and which brand of car seats I used for each of the girls. I thought it would be helpful to share how I tote everyone around, but before I begin, I want to disclose that this is a sponsored blog post. I also want to share that I first reached out to Chicco (versus them to me) and that we’ve used Chicco car seats for the past five years. I am very loyal to this brand and have never experienced any issues or had any concerns with our girls’ car seats. I’m honored to work with them to bring you this post. As always, thank you for supporting the brands we absolutely love!

When I was pregnant with Emilia, I began to worry about how I would load both girls into the car (Isla was a very active 2.5 year old when her sister was born). I kept asking myself: “Who gets put in first: the baby or the toddler?”

Then, when I was pregnant with Georgie, I had all the concerns about all things car related: How will we fit in my crossover SUV? Who do I load first? Do I trust Isla to buckle herself if I can’t see what she’s doing in a third row? Will Emilia forever complain about being in the car? Ha.

Fortunately, the transition to three kids in the car has gone smoothly for the most part, with a car ride here and there that was less than ideal (the crying kid trigger effect!). The four questions I’ve received most often about our car configuration are listed below!

Happy Fifth Birthday, Isla Milijana!

Five years ago today, our sweet Isla was born. Time has truly flown by. It feels like yesterday, I was holding her for the first time at the hospital. And just then, I blinked and she was one. Soon after, she turned two, then it was three, and last year, she became our big four year old.

Sasha and I always talk about how proud we are of this not-so-little girl of ours. She constantly worries about others’ feelings and their happiness. Yesterday, she asked if she could have a piece of gum (her favorite special treat!), and asked if I wanted a piece too. I said “Yes,” but when she went to the pantry, there was only one piece left. I told her she could have it to herself, but she refused and bit it into two pieces. It’s a silly anecdote, but it’s a very real representation of how she is always thinking of others.
