Week in Review

One of the first things Isla asked me when she woke up this morning was, “Is it Friday yet?” But seriously. We recently got a Nest camera (one IQ and one Indoor) for each of the girls’ rooms, and one of my favorite things about it is that you can play back video footage that it captures. So I’ve re-listened to prayers, like when Isla said on Thursday night, “Dear God, I pray for everyone and Bob… close your eyes!!!… everyone and Bob. And thank you for sleepovers at Mimis, because she always brings me home in the morning! The end.” Ha.  I’ll share more information about the cameras soon, but in short: we are loving them.

Some highlights from the past week include:

  • Playdate with our friends at Levy Park
  • Cupcakes at Crave as a treat for way too many errands
  • Playing with Isla’s new Baking Kit from Young + Wild & Friedman
  • Photographing Nina of The Baby Chick‘s baby shower at Ouisie’s Table
  • Girls Night Out with a few friends to North Italia and Creamistry
  • Taking baby Eden Marie’s newborn photos
  • Photographing a new cuteheads blogger collab with Veronica Romeis of Veronika’s Blushing
  • Booking a trip for me and the girls to Chicago in October
  • Swimming at my parent’s house on Saturday
  • Pizza night on Friday and getting to catch up with one of my favorite people – Brooke
  • Photographing Carrie’s adorable daughter, Elle, in celebration of her second month-iversary

I’m sure I’m missing something obvious like lunch with my best friend (ha), but can’t think of anything else! Hope y’all are having a wonderful week already! xo

Week in Review

It makes sense why babies grow up so fast, because truly, the weeks fly by at a warp speed! It feels like I write my ‘Week in Review’ post on a daily basis! Ha.

Last week, Sasha worked from home, and despite having to prepare ‘real meals’ (not fried eggs for Isla and a wrap for me!), we loved having him with us. My overall sanity is so much higher when he’s here. It’s already August, and all I can think about is our trip to Destin, Florida next month. We’re staying at the Hilton Sandestin, and I am so, so excited! I haven’t been to the beach since last January, when we were in Australia. I miss it!

Some of the highlights from the past week include:

  • Having a few favorite gals over for lunch with their kiddos! Always love catching up with old friends over good food.
  • Visiting Nancy Aidee Gonzales’ house to see her new studio space and for Isla to play with Emilio and Christian (who are both so cute!).
  • Taking Britt’s son’s 1 month photo. George is seriously to die for! What a dreamboat!
  • Photographing the sweetest baby girl, Annie, just 20 months after I took her older brother’s newborn photos! I love photographing siblings 🙂
  • Meeting Destiny in Katy for blog photos, then going to our friends, the Jarvises, afterwards, to play and swim!
  • Going to church at Bayou City Fellowship! I am so glad we’re back every week – it’s no joke getting everyone dressed, ready and out the door that early on a Sunday!! Ha.
  • Taking milk bath photos at Ivana and Bob’s house of both Emi and Milly – our future bffs!
  • Having Riley help with Isla and Emi – we love having her with us! I also finished some basket photos for her mom (Monica of Paper Flour Ink).
  • Starting to plan Meredith’s baby shower! I cannot wait.
  • Booking our stay at the Hilton Sandestin for next month!! It’s so needed. I cannot wait to be on the beach with a book in hand (ha… or with two kids on my hips!).

I hope you had a wonderful week! Happy, happy Monday! xo

Week in Review

Another week has flown by, and tomorrow is August 1st! With temperatures in the 100s, it feels like we are deep in the weeds of summer. I never know at what point of the day I need to shower – after the early morning dog walk, when I come back sweaty? Or after I work out in the morning, when I come back sweaty? Or after the evening walk, when I… you guessed it, come back sweaty? So basically, I just shower all day long! Which is exactly why I’m rocking a baseball cap all day, every day. Because who has time to do their hair three times? Plus, I went to our dermatologist last Friday to talk about my skin discoloration (called melasma) which is a result of pregnancy, and she recommended wearing a hat every day. She suggested a wide brimmed one, but alas, I’m no Kate Middleton, so I’m not sure I can pull that off! Ha. I wish.

Some highlights from the past week include:

  • Getting Isla’s first haircut by Eric Vaughn – she wasn’t the most cooperative that she’s ever been, but he did a wonderful job regardless! And she has been showing off her new shorter do to everyone she meets!
  • Having Destiny, Tatum, Ivana, Milly, Meredith and my friend Monica’s daughter, Riley, who is acting as my ‘Mother’s Helper’ over at various times on Tuesday! It was a crazy day, but the very best kind.
  • Having Megan and Isabel over on Thursday to take some Willow Crowns fall bow photos!
  • Attending a Serbian wedding reception for Sasha’s second cousin on Saturday!
  • Going to church at Bayou City Fellowship – it was Emi’s first time in the nursery, but she seemed to do really well. Thankfully! We love our church home.
  • Getting more snuggles with Brittany’s sweet baby boy, George!
  • Swimming at my parent’s house in Katy on Saturday.
  • Eating family dinner at Peli Peli Kitchen – our Sunday tradition! We love it.

I hope you have a wonderful first week of August. I can’t believe I’m saying those words!

Week in Review

This past Friday, we celebrated Miss Emilia’s Christening in an intimate ceremony with just our family and closest friends. Sweet Emi was not her usual happy self, which made sense later when we found out she had an ear infection! Regardless, it was a really fun day and lifelong memories were made. We’re so grateful for her amazing Godparents, Kirby and Brett, who were here from Oklahoma City to celebrate. Our photographer, Nancy Aidee, sent some pics already and I’m in love! I cannot wait to share more when we get the rest.

The rest of the weekend was a blur, given that we were just constantly trying to make poor Emi feel better. And the days leading up to the ceremony were very busy too! I snuck in two playdates, some blog photos for Destiny, newborn photos for Brittany’s angel, George, lunch with Ivana and her best friend, Destiny, and Milly’s three month photos. We had Sunday dinner with all my siblings – Ivana, Bob, Karine, Jill and Kevin. My favorite crew. We’re so blessed. Now I must go and pick-up the entire house that my tornado toddler wreaked havoc on today! Hope your Monday was a good one. xo

Week in Review

Why does it feel like July Fourth was a month ago? Whenever I write this post, I always go to my calendar to see what the date of the previous Monday was, as those are the photos I’ll upload to include. I couldn’t believe last Monday was July 3 (my little sister’s birthday!). I think it’s because we took a whirlwind trip to Arkansas this weekend, leaving at 5am on Saturday morning and then wheels up at 4:20am from our hotel on Sunday morning. I hadn’t left Emilia for more than 3.5 hours before, so it was tough (physically, as I’m still nursing) to be gone for 29 hours! We visited Hot Springs with the rest of Sasha’s family to honor the one year anniversary of Sasha’s grandma passing. The ceremony was beautiful, and it was so nice to celebrate Baba’s life with everyone.

Some highlights from the past week include:

  • Meeting Barrett Guy Jarvis, the newest baby in Sasha’s best friend bromance – he is adorable and we are so excited for Paige, Matt and Ellery!
  • Splashing around in the pool on July 4th with Ivana, Bob, Milly and my cousins, who are here visiting from Scotland!
  • Meeting with Lindsey Herod of Lindsey Herod Interiors to discuss key decisions for our house! She is so talented, and I can’t wait to work with her during this process!
  • Getting back into the routine of going to LifeTime Fitness with the girls! I have missed having good strength-training workouts, as I’ve been so tight for time lately that I’ve just ended up doing 3 mile runs around the neighborhood at night! I needed some weights in my life (hello, BBG hell! Ha).
  • Spending family time in Hot Springs!
  • Our tradition of ‘Pizza and Movie Night’ on Friday!
  • Taking some photographs at Mum’s friend’s sister’s backyard wedding – it was such a sweet, emotional ceremony!
  • Taking cousin photos of the girls and Lazo at Evelyn’s Park (I shared them on the blog yesterday here!).

The definite low-point of the week was when I realized my FitBit battery had died on the drive to Arkansas. My supportive husband wouldn’t stop at a Target on the drive to get a charger! So I lost 36 crucial hours. So upsetting! Ha. I hope you had a great week! Happy Monday. xo
