Week in Review

Two weeks have passed with our Emi Girl, and we’re truly smitten (most especially – her big sister!). She’s been more awake and alert the past few days, and we love getting to see those dark blue eyes… except for this morning at 5am! Other than this incident, she’s been feeding around 9:30pm, 3am, and 6:30/7am the past few nights, which I can definitely deal with! Isla was more like 9:30pm, 11:30pm, 2am, 4:30am, 7am… so I was prepared for the worst! We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks! Fingers crossed.

Over the past seven days, we’ve seen a lot of our close friends, many of whom brought us over lunch and dinner, which was greatly appreciated. We spent quality time with our immediate family, as well as fun moments with just the four Petrovics.

Emi “asked” one of my best friends, Kirby, to be her Godmother (and Brett, who wasn’t in town, to be her Godfather). They accepted, and we’re seriously so grateful to have such incredible friends who are willing to take on this role! We love the Behennas!!! Isla has been asking, “But where is Brett?” all week!

Meredith came over one morning with balloons and sugar cookies, and Isla was over-the-moon (not only does she love Meredith, but a visitor came and just played with her! Just what she needed!). I even made it to Southern Floral to buy flowers to do one of my favorite posed newborn shots – the floral crown. Little victories!

We’re excited about Valentine’s Day tomorrow, although I genuinely haven’t bought anything for Sasha other than a card! It’s a good thing all he thinks about is “the budget” and probably won’t be too heartbroken that I didn’t spend any money on him! Ha!

Hope you have the best week. xo

Week in Review

Happiest Monday! I cannot believe it has been eight days since Emi was born. There is genuinely nothing that will make a week fly by faster than having a newborn! We had over thirty guests come and visit last week, which made the days pass very quickly. Emilia sleeps almost all day long, so we’ve been waking her every three to four hours for feeds (a problem we did not have with ever-active-Isla!). Unfortunately, even with her being woken to breastfeed, I still developed Mastitis (an infection due to clogged ducts). I had Mastitis four times with Isla, so I knew the signs and was able to call my ob-gyn early to ask for the antibiotics. Other than being a bit under-the-weather, we truly had the best week as a new family of four.

In addition to having family and friends come to the house, we also went to our local park, walked to our nearby Starbucks, visited one of my mom’s best friends for breastfeeding advice, followed our Friday night tradition of dinner at MOD Pizza, played with Isla’s godmother and my best friend, McKenzie, who was in town, and went to Katy to celebrate my sister’s boyfriend’s birthday at my parent’s house.

Here are a ton of photos from the week!

Week in Review (Plus, Four Seasons Staycation Details!)

I cannot believe it’s been a week since Isla and I had a little Staycation at the Four Seasons in downtown Houston. We met up with Meredith just before 4pm to check into our amazing suite, then went to the spa where Mere and I got our nails done, and Isla was spoiled by a mani and pedi. She was slightly hesitant at first, then starting soaking it all up. We went and checked out the pool afterwards, then viewed the work they’re doing as part of a massive renovation. It’ll be completed before the Super Bowl weekend (Feb. 4) – I cannot wait to return once everything is done! We ate the most delicious dinner at Quattro, then went to the room early because Isla was exhausted. Of course, before Isla could go to sleep, we had to slip into our matching jammies and have a quick pillow fight (slash dance around the room to Nelly the Elephant on Spotify!). A yummy room service breakfast felt like such a luxury, then sadly we had to pack-up our bags and head back to reality. It was the best mini-vacation ever! I want to do another girls night again soon.

Some of the other highlights from the week included:

  • Meeting Meredith to snap some fun, colorful photos – we had planned to do a bigger shoot outdoors, but given then torrential downpour that occurred all week long, we stuck to her screened in porch! It’s been a life saver twice so far (and probably a million times for her!).
  • Taking Destiny‘s maternity and blog photos in the Rice Village area – so anxious for her to post them because she looks absolutely flawless!
  • Photographing the sweetest little newborn boy, Robbie, who was an angel during the shoot, making my life so much easier!
  • Taking photographs for our best friends, Matt and Paige, who own DEFINE Katy – there was a special announcement thrown into the mix too! We’re so excited that they’re expecting a baby boy in June!
  • Four Seasons staycation with Meredith
  • Having our cousins and my parents/sisters over for family dinner at our house on Sunday night! We had 11 people eating at our table, which is the most we’ve ever served at once. It as so much fun to get everyone together!
  • Doing our weekly MOD Pizza family night! Pretty soon, I’ll be back to ordering salads, so need to take advantage of this delicious “pregnancy diet” for one more week!
  • Having my 38 week gynecologist appointment and heading Emi’s heartbeat – I feel her kicking and rolling around now more than ever, and it’s getting very uncomfortable! She’s running out of space!
  • Getting an intense foot massage at Q Foot Massage, which I highly recommend!
  • Going to church at Bayou City Fellowship, participating in the most amazing worship, listening to Pastor Curtis preach and getting to chat with friends afterwards. Sundays are the best!
  • Taking Isla to Build-a-Bear to make a gift for her to bring Emi at the hospital! She is so excited about her bear, and keeps asking when she can give it to her! It’s the sweetest.
  • Eating lunch at North Italia with Zlata, Tata, Olivera, and Ivana after church on Sunday! The food is delicious (first timer), but company was better!
  • Meeting Joy for lunch at Pondicheri and getting to catch up – she has the most exciting updates and I always look forward to seeing her!
  • Getting a painting dropped off by Jamie Sawicki – I’m in love! She’s so talented!

Hope you had the best week! xo

Week in Review

Happy Tuesday! Who doesn’t love a three-day weekend? I didn’t know that Sasha was going to have MLK Day off, so mistakenly booked myself up, but it was nice to have him home so that he and Isla could spend the day together (and adding it as a work holiday to my calendar for next year!). Things are definitely winding down with photography, as I’m mainly only editing photos for fun now (a few blog photos scheduled before my due date and one newborn session, but that’s it!). I’m trying to catch up with friends before I become sleep deprived, and spent a lot of the past week running errands and buying things for the nursery (hello four trips to Target!). Some highlights from the week included:

  • Meeting Jessica and sweet Olivia for lunch at Local Foods, catching up and snapping a few outfit photos for her blog – Feather Thread!
  • Having my 37 week appointment and hearing good news that Emi is progressing as she should! Anxious to meet her, but definitely need to get some good nights of sleep before she arrives!
  • Photographing Isla in the Valentina cuteheads dress, which I’m seriously in love with (and Isla is too!)
  • Meeting Destiny in Eado for a really fun Valentine’s Day-inspired shoot – we photographed 5 outfits (praises to her for changing in a car four times at the end of her third trimester!). Make sure to read TrulyDestiny.com to see photos from the shoot! We then met up again on Friday for a much needed prenatal massage and poolside relaxation at Trellis (the Houstonian spa). We’ve been together before and think it definitely needs to become more routine! That place is heavenly!
  • Going to Alex’s wedding rehearsal on Friday night and having family MOD dinner night, then celebrating her nuptials on Saturday. Isla was the flower girl and it was so special to be a part of their celebration. Alex looked like a goddess – she is so gorgeous! They’re off on their honeymoon now, and I’m jealous of the sunshine!
  • Having my family over for Sunday dinner (we picked up Niko Nikos because I have no energy to cook for 8 people!) and doing a game of Monikers, which is the absolute best!
  • Celebrating Megan and sweet baby Isabel at a shower at Ousie’s Table. It was such a good brunch and I loved catching up with the ladies who went!
  • Photographing my older sister’s gorgeous house which will be on the market soon – will share more details after it’s listed!
  • Getting a BabyBjorn Bouncer in the mail! This is definitely one of our favorite baby companies and I cannot wait to use it with Emi.

Week in Review

I’m 36 weeks and three days pregnant as of today, and I’m nervous the next three weeks are going to crawl by at a snail’s pace. We’re finally out of the holiday season at our house, after celebrating Serbian Christmas on Saturday with his family. It was my favorite Serbian Christmas yet, with lots of laughter, good conversation, delicious food and a fun game of Secret Santa (I got the most cozy shawl ever!). Last week, I had a set of blogger photos, headshots and family photos all postponed (two from sickness, one from weather), so I had a much-needed restful week (filled with a million errands, of course, but those felt good to take care of!).

Before launching into my week’s highlights, I wanted to mention that I’ve been wearing my Daniel Wellington Classic Black Sheffield 40mm Rose Gold + Classic Cuff Rose Gold Large nonstop lately, and that Daniel Wellington is offering Snapshots & My Thoughts readers 15% off orders using SNAPSHOTS15 as the code. Valentine’s Day is a little over a month away, and I think that this would be the perfect gift! Hint, hint, husbands.

Some of our most joy-filled moments of last week include:

  • Taking down all of our Christmas decorations on Sunday after Christmas celebrations on Saturday! I didn’t quite believe the whole ‘nesting’ thing when I was pregnant with Isla, but I’m feeling the strongest desire to have a spot-free, organized house with this pregnancy, so the fact that our house looks ‘normal’ again makes me so happy!
  • Doing a Sprinkles stop after running five errands with Isla, which naturally feels like ten when you have a toddler in tow. Isla loves eating alllllll of the icing!
  • Going to my 36 week appointment and making sure Emi was growing as she should. I am pretty sure that was the last time I need blood drawn for this pregnancy, which makes me so insanely happy.
  • Catching up with Meredith as she dropped off a dress for Alex’s wedding this weekend – I can’t wait!
  • Taking Isla back to school after the holidays – she literally ran down the hallway to her classroom. I love how much she loves it!
  • Being treated to a prenatal massage (Christmas gift from my sister-in-law) with Well Family Houston. I received my treatment from Brandie Mitchell, whom I loved! I highly recommend getting a prenatal massage with her!
  • Having Karine babysit while I looked at houses with my sister-in-law and brother-in-law! I am so hopeful that they’ll get the one we love!
  • Taking family photos of the sweetest little boy, Jack!
  • Eating lunch with Brittany at Adair Kitchen and catching up after what feels like an eternity!
  • Visiting the Houston Polo Club with Ivana, who showed us around and told us which horses were friendly enough to pet. Isla was on cloud 9!
  • Tackling a new Target decor project, since I’m almost done with the nursery, and like I mentioned earlier, clearly nesting!

Hope you had the best week and are staying warm! It looks like the whole country was freezing this weekend! xo
