Week in Review

It’s been quite a week at the Petrovic household. Last Tuesday night, I went into Emi’s room to turn off her little lamp and she was fast asleep in a crib covered in throw-up (unfortunately all over herself too!). I woke her, bathed her then she went back to sleep and seemed fine the next day; however, Isla stayed home from school on Wednesday because of a bad cold and cough… which she gave to Emi on Thursday. Isla still has the sniffles, but Emi is now on day five of a nasty cold – constant snot, low grade fever and a deep cough (all night long!). Is there anything worse than your babies being sick?! I hate it! Praying that everyone is fully recovered soon. We even had to miss Emi’s baby dedication at church yesterday, which I’m bummed about. We’ll get her dedicated next time though!

Since we were all sniffly, we stayed inside for Houston’s version of snowmaggedon (i.e. 0.5 in of snow on the grass!). It was exciting nonetheless!

With this said, I had four sets of photos last week, and I have lots of editing to catch up on! I’m taking party pictures tonight, then two sets tomorrow – one on Friday, then newborns on the 23rd and I’m done for 2017! Woohoo! We’ll be in Colorado for the last week of December/first week of January, and I plan on relaxing! Can’t wait.

Some highlights from the past week include:

  • Visiting my recovering-from-surgery best friend, Brittany, with the girls and Amanda. We’re going again tomorrow to see her! We love our visits – Brittany is the funniest and always has us in stitches.
  • Eating family dinner on Sunday at our house! One of my favorite traditions.
  • Taking Meredith’s nursery photos (or Piper’s, more accurately!) – I didn’t want to reveal too much so there’s two photos below, but so much more to see – soon!
  • Photographing one of my favorite ‘lifestyle’-esque family photos at The Menil. It was such a natural session and I loved the family!
  • Snapping photos  of the most beautiful 40th birthday party! Every detail was so perfect.
  • Taking some photos for Jennifer Welker of Golden Thread at her house.
  • Getting my butt kicked at Orange Theory – I was sore for days after Thursday’s class!! Mike at San Felipe is intense! Monica gave me the most GORGEOUS custom ornament (below!). I love it.
  • Working on getting my craft/party closet reorganized with the help of our sweet cleaning lady, Alma and her daughter, Sarah.
  • Finally working on my annual photo book – details to come soon!

I hope you’ve had a great weekend and that your week goes well!

Week in Review

A very slight dip in the weather, the looped Glee Christmas soundtrack and a lit Christmas tree has finally got me feeling a bit festive! I have two more weekends of family photos, then I am done for the year, as we’re heading to Colorado right after Christmas. I am ready to relax! And by that, I mean plan Emi’s first birthday party (sob).

I am in the middle of finishing up edits on a family session from the weekend, so this week in review will be short and sweet (I totally write these as diary entries and pretend nobody is reading – perhaps they aren’t?). Alas, some highlights from the past week include:

  • A fun family day on Saturday – we went to the new Sugar & Cloth colorwall, adventured around Discovery Green, ate lunch at Tout Suite, then went to go and meet Santa. Isla nervously ran up, showed him the list she wrote, then ran away and started crying – which was great for Emi, whom, gauging her sister’s reaction, did the same. We didn’t even get a photo of Isla, but did get a classic crying one of sweet Emi girl. Don’t worry, I scooped her up very quickly.
  • Celebrating Emi’s 10-month-iversary!
  • Visiting one of my best friends, Brittany, who has had a rough 2017 and just got home from the hospital/surgery last week. It was good to catch up and she had Emi in fits of giggles, which was the cutest.
  • Photographing part of Meredith’s house remodel. It’s all goals, goals, goals. I don’t want to spoil the reveal, but shared two photos of her gorgeous guest bath!
  • Seeing Emi progress in her walking and standing. I still can’t picture her walking by herself, but it’s insane to even see her stand for 10-20 seconds by herself before buckling those knees to get into her favorite crawling position.
  • Photographing Monica’s UNREAL gingerbread “house” – i.e. Minute Maid Park. Scroll down – you have to see this! We also did two Orange Theory classes together and I totally got my butt kicked both times.
  • Stamping, sticking, assembling Christmas cards – just waiting on one last touch before they go out! And I got a new Artifact Uprising photo book in the mail. Happiest mail day!
  • Photographing Britt’s sweet babe, George, for his five month update. I’m obsessed with him!
  • Eating an impromptu lunch with my sister, Karine, as she is now working near our house!

I hope y’all have the best week! Christmas countdown: 21 days! Unreal!

Week in Review

I absolutely cannot wrap my head around the fact that we’ll be in the month of December on Friday. This Friday. And that means 2018 is literally right around the corner. Ah! I’m not ready. The past holiday week was so much fun. We spent lots of time with family – both my side and Sasha’s too. I love Thanksgiving! I also need to go on a juice cleanse that lasts three weeks, but thats another story.

Some of the highlights from the past week include:

  • Celebrating Thanksgiving with my family on Wednesday – a day early since my little sister is in her residency and didn’t have Thursday off! My mom made Indian food and it was delicious. We ended the evening with a game of Monikers – it’s our favorite.
  • Doing a 6 mile run at Memorial Park with Sasha, Isla and Emi on Thursday morning then celebrating Thanksgiving at Sasha’s Aunt Zlata’s house with his whole family and my parents came too!
  • Eating at El Tiempo on Saturday night with all of Sasha’s cousins. It’s an annual tradition to go out after Thanksgiving and we had so. much. fun. Maybe even a little too much fun? But the diaper dance at Concrete Cowboy is now going to be a tradition for sure.
  • Celebrating Serbian ‘Slava’ at Sasha’s mom and stepdad’s house on Tuesday. They always make the most amazing food. I left absolutely stuffed (reiterating the need for a juice cleanse!).
  • Eating dinner with my Dad on Sunday at our house while Mum went to a play with a friend!
  • Taking family photos, pictures for Meredith, Milly’s 7 month photos, Will and Lesley’s engagement photos, blueberry swaddle photos for Sarah of By George Baby Boutique, and Carrie’s daughter’s 5 month photos! Lots of editing (and I’m still going!!).
  • Visiting the new house many times – more details to come on our design process soon!
  • Spending quality time with McKenzie while she was in town!
  • Catching up with one of my dearest friends, Andrew, and his girlfriend, Lisa, while he was in town for the holiday. Andrew and I were close friends in high school then spent a whole summer together in Paris – I wish I got to see him more often!

I hope your break was wonderful. Are you counting down to Christmas or wishing 2017 would never end? xo

Week in Review

Happy Thanksgiving week! I cannot believe it’s already upon us. I’m on the hook for ratatouille, and I haven’t made it in ages, so have been Googling recipes – hopefully y’all are more prepared than I am! Or that you get to just show up. Ha. The past week was so fun with a few of our best friends who live out of town visiting. We had Kirby and Brett over for dinner on Saturday, then I picked up McKenzie from the airport on Sunday and we went to visit another best friend, Brittany, who has unfortunately been in the hospital for the better part of the year. She is having surgery today, so prayers appreciated.

Lots of highlights, including the Willow Crowns pop-up shop at The Monogram Shop, Carrie Colbert’s launch of her new site/store – CarrieColbert.com, taking family photos, snapping blog photos for Alex, a colorful holiday shoot that Meredith planned (only one photo below, so I don’t ruin the surprises!) – with tiny models, Isla, Naomi (Esther of cuteheads‘ daughter) and Jamie (Jenny’s daughter). We did family dinner at Peli Peli, spent time with Sasha’s mom who has been so helpful lately with babysitting, and met some of our new neighbors on Friday when we delivered cookies I got from Jessie of Miss J’s Bakeshop. I did Orange Theory with Ivana and Monica, and I think I’m still sore from it! Ha.

Hope y’all have the best week with the ones you love! xo

Week in Review

Officially in the thick of ‘family photo season’ right now, so will keep this ‘Week in Review’ short so that I can get back to the 10,304 photos I still have to edit! Is it Christmas yet? Ha! We’re heading to Durango either the 25th or 26th, and I am so excited. I haven’t seen snow in a few years – neither girl has ever seen it, so we’ll see what they think about freezing cold weather! We took our annual Semple-family REI trip on Saturday to get a new jacket – I love the navy canvas one I found, which probably won’t keep me super warm in 30 degree weather, but it is so perfect for a mild Houston winter.

Other highlights from the week include:

  • Taking sweet Clifford’s newborn photos! He was truly an angel baby and slept almost the entire time!
  • Photographing Monica’s family photos in their amazing back/front yards – serious #goals.
  • Co-hosting a baby shower for our friend, Amanda, then taking maternity photos for her the next day!
  • Taking Alex’s blog photos – we had a good laugh because Isla insisted on stamping her hand before we took them, and then I ended up Photoshopping orange stamp off the back of her hand in half the pictures! Toddlers!!
  • Photographing the Nickolases – aww, Parker is the yummiest little babe!! Her chunky cheeks are truly irresistible.
  • Having breakfast with Leah from The Monogram Shop, then photographing some of their gorgeous products. I seriously cannot go into the shop without getting something. I got Emi a sweet monogramed lunch box to replace the Medela bottle one she’s been bringing to school! Such a second child!
  • Photographing the ‘New Mom Care Package’ post with Sydney! The giveaway is closed, but have you read/pinned it yet? It’s so helpful!
  • Taking some 6 month photos of my gorgeous niece, Milly! She is about to be 7 months old, but it’s the thought that counts, right?
  • Getting an MRI and bloodwork done to try to figure out this weird muscle spasm I’ve had a few times! My doctor thinks it’s actually just from lack of sleep… so I should probably quit writing and go to sleep right now!
  • Doing Parent/Teacher Conferences for both of the girls! Ah, we are so in love with their school and their teachers this year! I just can’t express that enough!! The feedback was so sweet and makes me such a proud mama.
  • Checking in on the new build with the electrician and our builder! They are actually making progress – hoorah!
  • Going to family dinner with my parents to El Tiempo! I have been craving a margarita like crazy lately, which is so strange since I never used to like them. Their skinny margarita is so good!
  • Going to church at Bayou City Fellowship on Sunday morning – the 10:30am service for the first time ever, since Daylight Savings has still got Emi all out of whack and she’s been going down for a nap at 8:30am, if that tells you anything about when she’s waking up!
  • Last, but not least – spontaneously buying a ticket at 4pm on Sunday for a 5:30pm Disney on Ice show! I literally cried the first 5 or 6 minutes of the show just from watching Isla’s mesmerized face. She was so in awe and loved every second of the show, but was also a bit disappointed that Paw Patrol did not come on at the end… I had somehow mixed up Disney on Ice and Paw Patrol Live, which is also in town right now. Whoopsies!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are enjoying the start to your week already! xo
