A Proud American

I became a United States citizen in December 2011. It was such a special day for me – one that I will never forget. On that day, I (officially) became a proud American, and I cheesily waved my little flag around during the ceremony as we sang the National Anthem. I’ll never give up my UK passport or citizenship, as that is my heritage, but I have embraced all things American (especially the accent, which I’ve had for years and years). My mom took a picture of me during the ceremony, which I thought I’d share (sidenote: this was before Instagram let you remove borders!). On this day, let us celebrate this beautiful country and remember all of the people who have died for our freedom, including a friend of mine, Dimitri Del Castillo. May he rest in peace.

The Summer of Dreams

paris

Summer 2013 is here, and it has me thinking back four years,to the ‘l’été de mes rêves.’ I was blessed enough to live in France for three months – the first few weeks were spent interning at the Cannes Film Festival, then I packed up and headed to Paris, where I interned at an Oil & Gas exploration company and spent every free second wandering around the city with one of my best friends, Andrew. I blogged about my daily adventures here (which now seems so bland and uncreative), but those stories (sigh) capture some of my favorite moments in life. I returned to Paris with my Paris in 2011 as part of my graduation trip, then again in 2012 with Sasha, at the tail end of our Europe vacation (pictures here). Oh gosh, here I go again… Kayak.com time. Next trip must be booked!

Southern Bali

As you may know from here, we’re going on our honeymoon to Bali in December. I’ve already bought a travel book that I’m going through page-by-page, learning about the history, food and traditions of Indonesia. I was inspired to book the trip after seeing these pictures of Ubud on Entouriste. Recently, another set of Bali pictures were posted – my favorites are below. I seriously cannot wait! How gorgeous is Vicki’s photography?

To the Mountains

enroutecolorado

We’re on our way to Colorado for my sister’s wedding. I could not be more excited. Seriously. They’re getting married in the gorgeous Dunton Hot Springs (post here) on Sunday. We’re spending the first few days at my parent’s new house in Durango. There will be a million pictures to follow! Stay tuned.
