Countdown to the Capitol
On Friday, {m & b} and {s & i} will head to Washington, DC. {m} and {s} have never been before, and I’m so excited to be with them as they gallivant around the city, exploring every nook and cranny. {m} got me the best present ever for my 24th birthday – 36 Hours in 150 Cities, and I plan on using this wonderful guide, along with Design Sponge to plan a fully packed agenda. We’ll also take any fun suggestions you may have on how to tackle this bustling city in 48 hours!
I Went to the Woods
Voila, this is the Wandawega Tree House (featured on the The Lettered Cottage) – also known as heaven on earth. For those who know me, I am obsessed with climbing trees. I do it practically every trip that I go on. Perhaps I’ve watched Fern Gully and Avatar too many times because I literally want to live in a tree. I remember sitting in my American Literature class as a junior at Texas and listening to my professor read Thoreau’s Walden, and the words resonated in my soul.
“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.”
Isn’t that beautiful?
Let Me Linger a Little Longer
“Leaving San Francisco is like saying goodbye to an old sweetheart. You want to linger as long as possible.”
-Walter Cronkite
