Cyber Monday Sales

Photographer

I cannot stand shopping when it’s crowded, so Black Friday is definitely not something I participate in; however, I’m all about Cyber Monday. There are some incredible sales taking place today! See the discounts and promo codes for my favorite stores below.

PS It’s December. My favorite month of the year.

PPS I leave for Bali tomorrow. I’m exceptionally excited.

Favorite Looks of the Week

This week has been very, very busy at work, so I didn’t get to catch up on my blog reading until late last night. Lots of beautiful looks to pick from – I’m loving this transitional phase into fall. Lots of plaid, autumn colors and boots. Oh the boots. I especially like Sarah Vickers’ outfit – I want to wear that exact outfit to the Nutcracker this year.

Favorite Looks of the Week

Oh gosh. So many favorites. I cannot decide if I’m clearly indecisive, or if there really are a million gorgeous looks posted every week (or weeks – as I’m a little behind). I honestly would struggle to narrow it down from this selection if I had to pick one favorite, so I’d go for Sarah Vickers (Classy Girls Wear Pearls), Samantha Hutchinson (Could I Have That?), and Rachel Parcell (The Pink Peonies). Which look is your favorite?

Military Glam

One of my favorite fall trends is “military glam.” I love the look of a pop of camouflage paired with a classy silk blouse and some high heels (especially these Valentinos). The key to wearing military-influenced clothing is to be minimalistic. The print is already very bold, so don’t try to “over green” yourself. Rachel Parcell of Pink Peonies pulls of camouflage stunningly here. J. Crew has some of my favorite camo pieces (a few featured below – numbers 3, 4, and 7). What do you think about fall style?

Save Prada Marfa

I love following Gray Malin on Instagram. His photos are incredible. A recent post brought to my awareness the fact that Prada Marfa is under threat of being demolished due to the Texas Department of Transportation. This modern art piece is a permanently installed sculpture by artists Elmgreen and Dragset, situated about 37 mi northwest of the city of Marfa. The installation was inaugurated on October 1, 2005. The artists called the work a “pop architectural land art project.” The sculpture was intended to never be repaired, so it might slowly degrade back into the natural landscape.*

Prada Marfa was made culturally popular by its regular appearance on Gossip Girl, and yes, I did order myself a Prada Marfa sign for our house (sorry, Sasha!).

The Texas Department of Transportation recently deemed the installation to be a form of advertising akin to a billboard. Given this categorization, Prada Marfa needs to be licensed by the state, but the area in which it stands isn’t eligible for this type of permit. Fans are rallying around this iconic art piece on Facebook. You can read more about the details of the initial ruling here.

Some of my favorite photos of Prada Marfa are those from  Gray Malin’s Prada Marfa collection below.
