A Growing Print Collection

prints

I officially move into The Manor when we get back from the wedding, and I cannot wait to take care of all the finishing touches so we can think about throwing a house warming party. I love photographs (obviously… or see title of this blog), so they are in frames all over the house. I’ve also been adding to our print collection – I’m going to have a gallery wall in the study and one of the guest rooms. Our prints come from Etsy, Furbish Studio, Minted, Wantful, Paper Source (wrapping paper!), and Rifle Paper Co. We have some others on our registry, and I’m sure I’ll continue to add to the collection over the next year as we finish hanging things on the bare walls. Where do you find your prints?

Cupcake Decor

cupcakedecor

One of the first things that Sasha and I decided on was the fact we wouldn’t have a wedding cake, but would instead have vegan cupcakes. I haven’t eaten eggs in over 10 years, and so I avoid most desserts. We found the best vegan bakery in Oakland, Fat Bottom Bakery, that will be making all of the cupcakes for our wedding (see related post here). I’m meeting with Atheneum Creative today to review the invitation designs – I’m so stinking excited. I’m also going to ask them to help make signs for a variety of things at the wedding – the cupcake stand being one of them. I’ve compiled my five favorite options – how cute are those little individual signs? Have you seen any other creative displays before?

Pretty Little Things

Bryan texted me last night and said, “The house is starting to look like a home.” It was a small statement, but the sentiment was huge. I feel the same way! All of the little touches are coming together and although Sasha and I have agreed not to nail anything into the walls for another few weeks (I’m beginning to cave), we have ordered a few prints and I’m leaning them on the walls for now. I move out of my apartment in two weeks (seriously depressed – I’ve absolutely had the best year of my life living with McKenzie), and back into my parents – with the exception of my furniture, which will go into The Manor. A busy few weeks ahead! I’ll keep you all posted as always.

1) Furbish Studio Feather Print I, 2) Three French Prints from One Love Studio on Etsy, 3) New Moroccan print rug for the Master room (awaiting rug pad, which is why it’s not flat!), 4) Our second Maxwell couch from Restoration Hardware arrived!, 5) Constant supply of yellow tulips for the very yellow kitchen, 6) Finally filling out the bookshelves with real books (slowly but surely)

Weekend Update: A Couch + Parties + 3D TV

Weekend_Update

The weekend started off on Friday with the delivery of our first Maxwell couch (so excited). Afterward, I went to West Elm to get new bedding for one of the guest bedrooms (see above). Following came a glass of St. Germain and club soda at Benjy’s with two of my best friends, Paola and Patrick – i.e. I was one happy camper on Friday by 6pm. I went to the other Benjy’s in Rice Village for a friend’s birthday dinner, then went to bed reasonably early because I had a 10k in the morning. After running errands all morning, I realized I had locked myself out of the house and had to drive to the Medical Center, where Sasha was in class, to get a key (I’m losing my marbles). I had a slew of visitors come and see the house (thank you, Jess, for my lovely gifts!), then went to James’ 2nd birthday party, followed by a trip to Katy to meet one of Sasha’s best friends who lives with his sweet wife in Minneapolis. They recently had a baby girl, Ava, who was already sleeping when we arrived. Sunday began with church at Bayou City Fellowship, then HEB, lunch, and my least favorite task of the weekend – taking pictures of Sasha’s old furniture that I did not want to keep. I listed 15 items on Craigslist – what a crazy site. Hopefully most will be gone soon! My dad and sister and Sasha’s dad and stepmom came over to see the house, and we gave the 3D TV a spin – it’s incredible. Golf has never been so exciting! We finished the weekend with a dinner at Barnaby’s with two friends – capping Sunday off with falafel cannot be beat. Hope you had a wonderful weekend as well!
