Polka Dot Nursery

I have been browsing through Grey Likes Baby recently (of course), and I found this fun polka dot room, which I love! I saw similar gold dot decals at Land of Nod, and thought about doing a Taylor Sterling-esque room (see first picture below) for our baby girl, but Sasha thinks it’s too grown up for a nursery. I love the bookshelves, the animal hooks, the gold end table, and the gorgeous lamp. Great details! I prefer this golden nursery, but there are a lot of great elements in the room below.

I’ve made quite a bit of progress on the nursery so far – crib is ordered, dresser is built, bar cart (yes, I’m crazy) is filled with baby goodies, the canopy is in! I’ve still got to buy two bookshelves, the rugs, and our chair + ottoman. I’m going to wait until we decide on a wall color before we make rug and bedding decisions. Rifle Paper Co. announced that they’re bringing out a line of wall paper in the Spring – hopefully before June! I’d die for some Rifle floral walls.

Gray Malin on One Kings Lane

Joy to the world – a Gray Malin Far & Away sale on One Kings Lane! I have honestly clicked on each picture ten thousand times. I really want to get one for our living room, but I cannot decide which one to buy! The sale prices are amazing. I cannot get over how perfectly he captures these unique scenes from mountain top skiers to sheep in the desert. I only have four more days to decide. Which one of the prints is your favorite? If you’re not subscribed to One Kings Lane, you should!

Golden Nursery

In browsing for nursery ideas, I came across this gorgeous golden haven at On To Baby. I love the chevron wall, the Imogen Rifle Paper Co. letters, the golden bows on the curtains, and all the little decorative pieces. My older sister prefers brightly colored nurseries, whereas I lean toward simple, elegant design. What do you think?

‘Hello, Baby’ Stationery

Of course, the minute we find out that we’re pregnant, my brain immediately thinks about the birth announcement. I’ve posted a few of my favorites here and here in the past, but have been scouring the internet a lot recently for other ideas.

Calligraphy Workshop

photo-555x443

I love calligraphy. Not the old school copperplate kind, but contemporary lettering. This sounds absurd, but I could look at cursive lettering all day long. I have looked into taking classes in Houston, but everyone I find seems to teach the super slanted, loopy calligraphy, and I’m not interested in learning that. When Amy and Riley at Papellerie showed me our logo and invitations with Michele of Meant To Be Calligraphy‘s handwriting, I swooned. “That is the type of calligraphy I want to learn,” I thought to myself. While my handwriting is far from perfect, I do have a very steady hand and am constantly doodling cursive words in meetings and at church (while paying attention, of course!). Michele lives in DC and holds workshops at a local venue, and I’m going to one in February. I’m extraordinarily excited to take my first class (with my mom!) and also to have another trip to one of my favorite cities in the US. Have you been to DC before? If not, you should. Perhaps just to eat the veggie burger and popcorn at Founding Farmers.
