Life Lately

Life lately… has been chaotic (to say the least). I started a new project on Monday and have been training my backfill, which makes work a tad busier. We’ve had a heap of friend’s birthday dinners, wedding showers, baby showers, bachelorette events, baby parties, etc. to attend. It’s so nice to be social and catch-up with people before Isla arrives, and I become preoccupied for a bit; however, I must say – it’s exhausting! The biggest complaint (and for this I’m blessed) about being pregnancy is the tiredness. It is like a plague – I took my first nap last weekend after my shower, and it felt so nice to sleep! I’m still up at 5am to workout, so our bedtime has gotten much, much earlier. I recently started doing spin class at Define Body and seriously love it. I had to stop running due to nerve pain, and spinning doesn’t hurt at all – a saving grace. I cannot wait to tie up my running shoes again though! Only 63 more days until Isla’s due date. Here’s to having it fly by! What have you been up to lately?

Newborn Photos by Taylor Lord

It has been a back-and-forth conversation for the last few months – to do maternity pictures or not? Eventually, Sasha and I landed on doing newborn pictures vs. maternity, for a variety of reasons – namely because if we’re going to pay for photos, I want Isla to be in them as opposed to being inside my tummy! We are going to use one of my favorite photographers, Taylor Lord, for the shoot. I could look at her blog all day long. She posted these adorable newborn photos almost a year ago – I am obsessed. First, baby Henry is too cute, and second, how gorgeous is their house?? I’m anxious to meet (and hug!) Isla after looking at these again. 10.5 weeks left!

Nursery Gallery Wall

DSC_0445I absolutely love gallery walls – we now have them in three rooms of the house. I had been pining a few prints here and there for Isla’s room and recently pulled the trigger on all of them. I wanted to add some color to the very monochromatic room (lots of gold, cream beige, white), but didn’t want anything too bold. After buying the prints, I spent a few weeks scouring frames, then spent last Sunday cutting out kraft paper versions of the frames and arranging and rearranging them on the wall. The whole process takes quite awhile, but it’s totally worth it. I have some space on the left and right to expand the collection if desired!

Do you have a gallery wall in your house?

Pop-Up Birth Announcement

I’m always on the look-out for a creative baby announcement idea, and absolutely love these pop-up baby boy ones by Atheneum Creative. My love of these unique cards is enhanced by my obsessed with elephants (see evidence here). I have no idea how one goes about designing a pop-up card – that’s why I’d love it to the pros. What a cute way to announce a little baby boy to the world! What do you think about these cards?

West Elm Graham Glider

Deciding on the baby glider or recliner is a big decision – as new moms, we’re about to spend a lot of time nursing there, as well as many years to come reading our little ones stories on the chair at night. Sasha and I looked at Pottery Barn Kids, RH Baby and Child, Land of Nod, Serena and Lily – we liked a lot of the chairs, but none of them seemed just right for our house/Isla’s room. I saw the Graham Glider online at West Elm and loved it, but wasn’t convinced until 1) my good friend, Mara, told me that they had just bought it, and 2) we both sat in in and decided it was “the one.” We ordered the Pebble Weave chair in Oatmeal, as well as the matching ottoman. We were told that they take 8-10 weeks to arrive (ours came in 7!). It arrived on Saturday, and I seriously could not be more pleased. Pictures below!
