Watercolor Calligraphy

One of my favorite new trends in the world of typography (a world I care all too much for), is watercolor calligraphy. I follow Lauren of @AFabulousFete on Instagram, and her prints are my absolute favorite. I love how the colors change over the course of the stroke from light to dark, which is beautifully matched with the varying thickness of the letters. There is a lot of gorgeous inspiration on the internet, and I’ve been motivated to give it a try as well!

Lauren posted the tools needed here on her blog, and I’ve ordered the brushes and plan on giving it a try. I am nerdily excited. Have you been noticing this trend too? Have you tried it?

Here are some of my favorite pieces of inspiration by various calligraphers. All photos are linked to their source site.

Happy Tuesday and Serbian Christmas Eve! We are heading to church tonight to celebrate for the second time. Having a multicultural family has its perks!

The Golden Nursery Progress

Isla’s room is making progress, but there is still a ton of work to be done! I feel like this is a never-ending project, but I only have 15 more weeks left. We’ve bought or ordered most of the furniture, but are still waiting on the glider and ottoman, curtains, two lamps (here and here), baby mobile, and a ton of prints/frames for our bare walls. I need to pick a wall color (or wall paper!), create a gallery wall, and fill these massive bookshelves with books and baby stuff. The baby registry is almost complete though, thanks to help from Annie Dean’s list and other new mom friends of mine. I have to remind myself not to keep buying things or there won’t be anything left for my upcoming showers!

I’m sharing a few pictures of the nursery (in progress!). The ENTIRE room was once covered with pictures of the items taped to the floors and walls – as more and more items come in, more and more paper comes down! I cannot wait until June 4.

Just a Lick of Paint

I walked into The Manor yesterday with McKenzie, and I was tickled pink. It was the first time that I’d see the new paint on the walls, and although they have 1-2 coats left, I am so excited about the progress. The wood floors, faucets, dishwasher, wine cooler, and ice machine go in this week, and I cannot wait to see what it looks like after that. Getting much closer to the finish line… More before and afters of the kitchen, study, master bath, living room and entryway below! Previous progress posts filed under the Decor category above.

A Work in Progress: The Manor

There has been a lot of action taking place at The Manor recently. The front wall was taken down; the exterior, painted; the bathrooms, retiled with new cabinets; the living room, new lights and fireplace. A new bar was built, new granite and tile put into the kitchen, a new closet built for the master, and new shelves in the laundry room. There’s a lot of work left though, like the wood floors being installed, the TV being mounted above the fireplace, kitchen cabinets painted (along with the entire interior), mirrors and blinds installed, and the ice machine and wine cooler plugged into the bar. Then there’s decorating! We’ve got the couches and an idea for the entryway, but there’s a lot of design decisions to be made. Progress pictures here and original demolition pictures here. Stay tuned for more to come!Manor_Old_New2
