Isla’s Flamingo 8th Birthday Party

We recently went through what I lovingly call “Petrovic birthday season,” as four of us have birthdays in a 25 day stretch – which also includes Valentine’s Day and a ton of other family birthdays (Sasha’s sister and cousins, my grandma and aunt). As I was editing the girls’ birthday party photos, I realized that I never shared Isla’s flamingo themed birthday party from last May! Although I’m very late to share these, I have posted every one of the girls’ parties to date, so didn’t want to skip out now!

Isla invited all of the girls in her class over to swim, and we had such a fun afternoon celebrating! One of my best friends, Kristin, helped to style the dessert table and inflate a million balloons – she is so talented. We are grateful for our sweet new friends here in Austin! Lots of photos below!

Happy First Birthday, Poppy Alexandra!

Our littlest love turned one over a month ago, and in typical fourth kid fashion, I’m only now sitting down to write her one year post. We could not be more obsessed with our baby – she is every Petrovic family member’s favorite. On the flip side, I am hers, but Isla is a very close second. Her most said word is definitely, “I-ya!” whenever she sees Isla. She goes through phases of words – first was Dada, then Mama, then she threw in ba-by for awhile, but it’s mainly just Isla’s name now!

You know the phrase “so-and-so has never met a stranger?” – well, Poppy is 180 degrees from that, ha. She loves her family dearly, but is very suspicious of all others. She still loves to be out and about to explore the world, most especially going on walks. She is in love with her ‘walk-abouts’ with Papa (my dad) – he has been doing this little walk with her since she was a baby, and she is entranced with him!

Her favorite foods are blueberries, bananas, yogurt melts, salmon, chicken, lentils, cauliflower pizza, broccoli… and as shown below, cupcakes! She wants to do everything that her sisters do, so I feel like she had been watching them eat cookies and cupcakes lustfully for so long. When we gave it to her, it was the cake smash I’d been waiting 6.5 years for!

Poppy slept through the night for the first time last week – at 13 months. Until then, she was all about the nightly check-ins from mom. She still nurses in the morning, once during the day and at night. It is something I’m going to be very sad to give up!

Poppy has worn shoes maybe 6 times in her whole life! She is still crawling – walking with a little baby walker/stroller – so there hasn’t been much need! Thanks to Isla, she has gone down a few slides in her sissy’s lap, and been pushed on the baby swing (which she loved). We took her in the hot tub last weekend, and she was all grins the whole time.

To get Poppy to laugh, you need to have her sisters do silly dances, to say, “PICOLETTO!” (a Luca movie reference), or make animal noises or silly blowing sounds. When she smiles big or laughs, her eyes all but disappear and I love it. She has two tiny teeth coming in at the top (two at the bottom which have been there for a few months), and I love that I can now see them in her gummy smile.

Through and through, Poppy – we love you! I also love these photos my dear friend Jen Dillender took of her. We had just moved in the week before they were taken, and I’m so glad we could be *home* for her first birthday session!

Poppy’s Pastel Pop-star 1st Birthday Party

Just days after Poppy turned one year old, we celebrated this milestone birthday with some of our closest family and friends. We moved into our new house just two weeks beforehand, which made the days leading up to the party feel absolutely nuts, ha! But everything went smoothly (except the rainy, freezing weather!), and the girls all had the best time. I rented a soft play package which came with a ball pit and other little toddler play toys – it was such a hit. Poppy loved it and spent most of the time there. With this said, the cake was definitely the highlight of Poppy’s day. That girl crushed it – I was impressed!

We call Poppy ‘Popstar’ most of the time, so doing a star theme party just felt right! Then came the idea of star pop-its, which felt even more right, ha. Since we only invited a handful of people, I was able to hand deliver rainbow pastel star pop-its in custom star bubble mailers – so extra, but we had fun in the process! One of my best friends, Monica, designed the invitations. I love them so much! I knew that I didn’t want a black and gold star party – and I’m so ready for Easter by the time January and February roll around, that a pastel rainbow color scheme was our one and only choice. I have linked all of the party items below! It was not my most over-the-top party, but it was probably the most fun one. The first guests arrived at 11am and the last left at 8:30pm. That is my kind of party! We truly did ‘party like popstars!’ I’ve shared lots of photos below!

Happy Third Birthday, Georgie Margot!

Earlier this month, our Georgie girl turned three years old. She is growing into quite the little entertainer – she loves to make people laugh so much! She 100% refused to acknowledge it was my birthday this past weekend, and so we eventually just gave in and sang her happy birthday – candle and all. It’s pretty fitting with her love of attention! Georgie loves going to school (especially because of her boyfriend, Adam!), coloring, getting tickled, playing with play dough, eating Kashi Peanut Butter Crunch cereal, getting herself dressed, emulating her big sisters in every way possible, watching Bluey, randomly telling her family and friends that she loves them (this melts me!), and trying to steal a sip of Diet Coke whenever possible. She wakes up like a total bear, screams louder than anyone I’ve ever heard and is a daddy’s girl until the middle of the night when she wakes up (every day) around 2pm wailing for me to come into her bed. We absolutely love this little toot to pieces! I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for our Jo Jo Girl (also known as Dodie Bird!).

Three Cheers & High Fives Gymnastics Party

A few weeks ago, we celebrated Emilia and Georgie’s birthdays at the gym where they take gymnastics classes. The last themed birthday party we had for them was “Oui, oui, oui, Emi is three! Oh how fun, Georgie is one!” In fitting with the acrobatic theme, I chose “Three cheers and high fives!” for this celebration. We kept the party small – a 30 minute setup window helped enforce that! But with the help of my amazing friend, Kristin, the party looked pretty darn cute with lots of pink, blue, and red decorations and balloons (Kristin did the garland herself!). The girls had the BEST time (as did I – I barely took any photos at all during the actual party!).

A special thank you to one of my best friends, Monica of Paper Flour Ink, who designed the invitations, and to Ryan of Ryan’s Woodworking for building the custom podium! I bought the cakes and cookies from Hayleycakes and ordered the napkins and cups from For Your Party. Another one of my best friends, Julie of Young Wild & Friedman, sent party sized play dough jars! The girls had the best time, which is the most important part! Thanks to our family and friends who came to make it so special.
