The Manor: Almost There

If you’ve been reading for the past few months, you are well aware of the renovation of our new home, nicknamed “The Manor” (related to the street name). Sasha surprised me with the house as part of his proposal (read the story here), and we’ve been doing major renovations since early November (think walls being added, moved, etc.): Demolition post, Progress post, Further Progress post, A Lick of Paint post. While we still have work to do – i.e. moving the furniture from my apartment into the house, buying blinds, yard work, buying accessories for the two guest rooms – it’s almost there. I see the finish line! Below are a ton of pictures – I’m dying for the other Maxwell couch to arrive! I’m in love.

Little Decorative Details

I had another busy house-decorating-weekend filled with multiple trips to Target, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, West Elm and Anthroplogie. We had the Bluestone Console and Coffee Tables delivered on Saturday and bought chairs to go with the bench and Emmerson dining table that we ordered last week at West Elm. Lots of little decorative pieces were also purchased, and the new garage door was finally installed. The Manor will be completely finished on Wednesday, and we’re having a cleaning crew come in to scrub the place down on Thursday. I am so excited for all of the work to be done so that we can begin putting everything together. Almost there! Seems like ages ago that we were here.

PS Have you seen a Nest yet? It’s Sasha’s favorite little toy. Coolest thermostat ever.

weekendupdates

1) Willoughy Dining Chair from West Elm, 2) Porter Leather Dining Chair from West Elm, 3) Jade King Shams and Mosaic King Pillowcases from Crate & Barrel, 4) Nest Thermostat, 5) Pottery Barn Malta Lantern, 6) Scroll Tile Runner Rug (2.5×9) from Pottery Barn

Bathroom Countertop Decor

I’m decorating one room at a time (in an attempt to stay sane!). I finally purchased the entryway and dining room furniture this weekend – which was exhausting as I ran between Crate and Barrel, Restoration Hardware, Anthropologie, West Elm, Z Gallerie, The Container Store, and IKEA (a nightmare). I decided to focus on the half and guest bathrooms (which look like this) first, so I purchased the following items (as inspired by Emily Schuman and Samantha Hutchinson). I still need to buy a cute little basket, but have lots of good coffee table books to use!bathroom_counter1) Glass Melon Knobs from Anthopologie, 2) Voluspa Japonica Mini Candle from Anthropologie, 3) Barr-Co Soap Bar from Anthropologie, 4) Provence Perfume Bottles from Anthropologie, 5) Square Lacquer Tray from West Elm

Demolition

Construction on The Manor started yesterday, and it’s chaotic. I popped in on the way to Sasha’s last night, and there are holes everywhere. I cannot wait to share before-and-after pictures of everything, but it’s going to take awhile. We are re-wiring the house for lighting, knocking down walls to expand our closet space (he’s an angel, really), ripping up carpet for wood floors, removing popcorn from the ceiling, adding all new wood panels outside, putting in new cabinets/granite/doors/sinks/showers, building a new fireplace and custom bar, etc. It’s exhausting. My brain is at full capacity right now – but it is exciting too. I’ve added two pictures of our new closet (hard to tell what’s going on…) – my favorite room of the house!

Our pied-a-terre will be quite different looking in a few months!
