It’s time to redo the entire house. Okay, so there’s no way Sasha would buy that, given that we freshly painted every room 12 months ago, but the Rifle Paper Co. wall paper collection for Hygge & West just launched, and I’m utterly obsessed. I truly thought about how each print would fit in one room or another in The Manor – I love the safari print for Isla’s room? Maybe an accent wall? And we could totally redo one of the bathrooms with the pineapples! How fun is that print? And I need the peonies in our laundry room. What do you think of the collection?
Elephant Safari
One of our favorite activities from our honeymoon in Bali was the day trip to visit the elephants in a village north of Ubud. We booked our trip with Bali Adventure Tours, and we highly recommend any tourist book via this operator, as they treat the elephants very well. I’ve never played with elephants before, as they’re very dangerous when you encounter them in African safaris. These massive animals were far from threatening – they just wanted to be your friend (and I was willing to concede). We fed the elephants, then took a 40 minute ride through a park. Afterwards, we ate at the delicious buffet before seeing the show. The show leader emphasized that the elephants weren’t being paraded like in a circus, rather they were showing off their intelligence. And I believe it – they are so smart. We befriended another American couple, Julianne and Cody, on the trip. They were staying at the same hotel as us, and of course, we had multiple friends in common. This world is so small!
Elephant Rides in Bali
Work is beyond busy, but there’s one thing getting me through each day – Bali in 22 days! Sasha has begged me not to over-book us, so I’ve limited my planning to a famous Balinese cooking class, volcano tour, temple tour, yoga class, Ubud day trip, and my favorite – an elephant ride! The first time I saw elephants in the wide (i.e. not at a zoo) was in South Africa three years ago, and I fell in love. They are so darn cute.
