The next gift guide in my holiday series is for the ‘girly girl.’ Similar to the hostess and travel lover guides, I would take any and all of these presents (especially that Audrey lamp from Lulu & Georgia!). All of these gifts are for the ultra-feminine lady, which naturally means there is a whole lot of pink involved.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving, y’all. It is one of my favorite days of the year. Sasha and I have done a ‘Tofurky Trot’ on Thanksgiving morning for the past two years (in lieu of the more popular and very busy Turkey Trot). We go to Memorial Park and run the trails there with Belle, and this year, Isla. We’re excited to spread this tradition to our newest family member who will one day run with us! We will head to my parents house around 11am, where we’ll eat with my family, plus Sasha’s sister and her boyfriend. There will be lots of food and tons of games.
Healthy Vegan Crustless Apple Pie
I have been toying with the idea of a healthy apple pie for ages now, as anyone close to me knows I adore stewed apples. What exactly is a stewed apple? Simple. It’s when an apple is skinned (optional), cored, diced and popped into the microwave for about 2 1/2 – 3 minutes. It comes out soft and sweeter (how? I have no idea). I eat a stewed apple almost every single night after dinner. It’s the best dessert.
After scouring the internet, I found a lot of vegan apple pie recipes online, but none of them were to my liking (i.e. healthy enough). You don’t need all of that added sugar if you bake with a delicious apple (namely Honey Crisp).
I baked three batches of these vegan, gluten-free, refined-sugar-free, crustless apple pies, adjusting little things each time, and the recipe below is the winner. The ingredients make two servings – baked in little ramekins (I used these from Sur La Table).
PS Isla’s nursery is one of the finalist for Project Nursery’s project of the month! I would love your vote.
Rifle Paper Co. Holidays
Nobody says “Feliz Navidad” or “Happy Birthday” like Rifle Paper Co. My one true obsession in life (but truly), I rarely tell someone “Happy __________” using anything other than a Rifle Paper card. Anna Bond’s unique, artistic representation of holidays, from Halloween to Valentine’s Day, is absolutely perfect. Their New Arrivals? Incredible. I want all of those phone covers please. I even emailed them recently to request they create wall paper. Wouldn’t that be to-die-for? One of their Customer Service Representatives kindly replied and said she’d pass along the suggestion. Fingers crossed, y’all.
Thankful Thanksgiving
What a lovely holiday Thanksgiving is! I had such an amazing long weekend – annual family pictures in Eleanor Tinsley Park, Thanksgiving day with my parents and Sasha’s mom (filled with male competitiveness), a day trip to San Francisco to look at venues, catching up with friends who were at home visiting family, and decorating for Christmas. Some snapshots from the past few days are below.
