Some of my all-time favorite quotes were spoken by Mark Twain. I always feel so inspired by this wanderlust-filled saying – isn’t it so true? We will definitely be more disappointed by the things we choose not to do than those we decide to do. It makes me want to pack a bag and go and travel (probably not good timing though, since we get married in 18 days!). I hope you are having a wonderful Monday!

The Summer of Dreams

paris

Summer 2013 is here, and it has me thinking back four years,to the ‘l’été de mes rêves.’ I was blessed enough to live in France for three months – the first few weeks were spent interning at the Cannes Film Festival, then I packed up and headed to Paris, where I interned at an Oil & Gas exploration company and spent every free second wandering around the city with one of my best friends, Andrew. I blogged about my daily adventures here (which now seems so bland and uncreative), but those stories (sigh) capture some of my favorite moments in life. I returned to Paris with my Paris in 2011 as part of my graduation trip, then again in 2012 with Sasha, at the tail end of our Europe vacation (pictures here). Oh gosh, here I go again… Kayak.com time. Next trip must be booked!

Southern Bali

As you may know from here, we’re going on our honeymoon to Bali in December. I’ve already bought a travel book that I’m going through page-by-page, learning about the history, food and traditions of Indonesia. I was inspired to book the trip after seeing these pictures of Ubud on Entouriste. Recently, another set of Bali pictures were posted – my favorites are below. I seriously cannot wait! How gorgeous is Vicki’s photography?

Boston

I got home late on Monday night from Boston, after spending the weekend there to site see, visit friends, and watch Georgia run the marathon. As you know by now, there were two bombs that went off around 2:50pm EST in the exact location our group had been standing at earlier in the day. I was on my way back to the finish line from the 21 mile marker and was super annoyed that we were stuck in the T, which was going to make us miss her (and potentially our flight). We got off at Arlington, and literally ran to Emily’s apartment at Dartmouth and Boylston (directly across from the finish). As we were on our way, people were frantically running the other way, many sobbing. All we heard was “bombs” and we saw smoke ahead of us in the direction we were going. The next five minutes were so scary – it’s a bit of a blur, but we saw Emily, ran full speed into her apartment, grabbed our bags, ran down the stairs, past throngs of police, medics, and firemen and five streets over until we found a cab. It wasn’t until we were in the car that the reality of the situation hit. There are countless people injured by the attack, and multiple confirmed dead. What a horrific chain of events.

Before the turn of events took place on Monday, our trip to New England had been really exciting (and cold!). Below are pictures from Saturday and Sunday. I’ll do a separate Marathon post soon.
